The Anti-Anti Thread

Postby EireWolf » Sat Jan 31, 2004 12:25 am

In this thread, you're only allowed to say nice things.... say nothing about what you don't like, but say copious lovely things about stuff you do like!

Of course, there is freedom of speech, so you can technically say anything you want. But if you start being a poo-poo head, then no one will like you.

I will start:

I like home-cooked meals
and campfires
and green tea
and heartfelt hugs
and fresh baked cookies
and birthday cards
and being with a good friend
and being so immersed in working on a sculpture that I don't even think about looking at the TV

and lots of other lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy things!

:)

Really, I do like other things.

I like Diet Coke and those big pretzels at malls with the cinnamon and sugar on them.

I also like shopping and crime novels (Linda Fairstein rules!)

I like those little gummy peach rings they sell in the candy isle.
I like the Oakland Raiders football team.
I like being out in storms with thunder rain the whole nine yards.
I like concerts/music
I will admit I like watching wrestling (yeah the male soap opera I know)
I like good food...such as seafood or steak (love deer and moose steak)
I like spending time with my parents...(despite the sterotype that young people have)
I like holidays
I like fall the most of all seasons...somthing about it being kinda cold..but not really.
I love playing football
I like little things that nobody notices...like if someone knows I like a place...they try to get me to go there without me asking...(hope that made sence)
I like people that respect the elderly
I like threads like this that let me make reallllly long boring posts that I doubt anyone will actually read
I like snapping things...back, knuckles, neck...toes...hip
I like good anime
I like playing video games with people that have a sence of humor (playing a PS2 wrestleing game with Gypsy is great...she beats me with a chair, sends me crashing through a table and we all go home laughing)
I like slushies (the 7-11 kind)
I like the outdoors
I like people that do not take everything in life serious...I fall into that bracket a lot and it is refreshing to see people able to laugh at things
I like debating (bad habbit)
I like girls that appreciate chivilry
and lastly, I like memorys...I hope if I ever get really bad off with a disease that wrecks my mind...that I go quick. I love to just get alone and remember things...people...actions. Like my grandfather...who everything that is even remotly good in me is a living tribute to him. The greatest Christian man I have ever known and I will meet him again. ;) I will probably spend more time at his mansion then at mine.

I also like people that read my whole long lousy post. You get a cookie.

I've seen those jellied peach rings. Yellow and red-orange with granulated sugar all over them. Do they really taste like peaches?

Yes...its like a peach without the juice...and a weird aftertaste..if you can pick between a real peach and the rings..go with the real deal...but the rings are a close second. And I am really sorry..I seem to have sidetracked this thread....BACK TO LIKES!

well I too like partaking of the peach rings...mmmm...

ok, ok, my likes...
I like guys who finish their stories (Shatterheart will get a laugh out of that one)
I like guys who are the protecting type...you know the ones that will shove you out of the way of the oncoming lightrail.
I love the fall..it is my favorite time of year. I love the cold, crisp air cutting across your face and the smoky smell of the air.
I love the rain too...listening to it, being in it...anything. Some of my favorite memories are being at my high school as a sophomore waiting under the porch for the bus while it stormed.
I like walking around my high school...it's a really pretty campus with some nice parts to it. Nice to walk around in on a nice not humid afternoon.
I like watching the football team practice as I walk by. *grin*
Yeah, while we're at it...I just like football period. Someone who knows who they are got me into it and I don't think they know quite what they unleashed.
I love playing volleyball..or heck, just playing with a volleyball by myself.
This may sound cheesy, but I love waking up not feeling nauseated. It's been pretty rare that that happens nowadays for me, so I treasure it when I do.
I love the feeling you have when you just wake up from a good dream...that ethereal state betwen being awake and being asleep where you half believe it really happened.
I love the quiet conversations I've had late at night...the ones where you swap stories with your best friend or whatever at 2 am.
I love filipino eggrolls.
Also love a good tex mex enchilada.
I love the music of the Italian and Latin languages...sometimes I will read the passage I have to translate aloud just because I like the way it sounds.
I love being around marble sculptures and classical art...gives me a sense of awe and a child-like thrill I cannot describe. But I love being around such pieces of art. Especially sculptures....wow.
Oop, that reminds me. I love a good history movie...braveheart, gladiator, the patriot, the time machine, the count of monte cristo, man in the iron mask...anything 'epic' like that I am bound to see.
I like being around the ocean....not in it, per se, but around it.
I love a book that leaves you breathless and aching to know what happens. My mother would argue I love anything in print, but moving on...
I love studying the legends of king arthur and his knights.
I love suprises---anything no matter how big or small if you suprise me with it is guaranteed to be a sure-fire success.
For that matter, I love finding reese's in my desk for no reason other than a friend loved me that day. (or heck, just a reese's by itself...my fav. candy)
And I guess I've made this long enough...but one last thing. I love hearing a good song that really speaks to me. One I can listen to over and over again and always pick up something new from.

Edit: Guess I should add I love anyone that has read through that long passage. Kudos if you remember anything from the list a week from now without looking it up.

I love sunsets over the mountains.
I love snowboarding, football, and hockey.
I love love stories, not bargain bin romance novels, but true love stories.
I love women who are sensitive, soft spoken, and gentle.
I love stories of sacrifice and courage, stories that inspire the hero within me.
I love creativityL poems, stories, art, and music. I suck at all of them, but love them nonetheless.
I love my Lord and my God, and all of His people.
I love that God has it all figured out, even when I don't.
I love my moods of melancholy, the ones that make me realize that this world isn't that great. the ones that make me yearn for eternity.
I love cooking, and I love trying new things just to try them.
I love to be idealistic and to daydream.
I love to find the rare kindred spirit that thinks the same way I do.
Our lives are but a vapor, let us not let waste our time and breath on vanities, but let us spend ourselves for the Kingdom, seeking a better resurrection.

I like...
oooh, gummy peach rings! Where? Where?
getting a drawing right on the first try...:thumb:

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

Man you guys are so interesting...
I loved reading through this thread - it's quite inspiring to hear from people that are thankful for things and not always complaining, and in addition, people who have tastes in some area similar to myself.
I love walking around the neighborhood around my small college campus at night. There are loads of trees and beautiful postbellum houses and a few stars here and there. This is time I can spend with just God alone, and as I wander, I apply symbolic meaning to the things I see. It's quite the expeirence let me tell you.
I love realizing that no matter what happens, wrong or right, good or ill, that God is in control and that in some way, wether physical or spiritual, or any other purpose, He will work for the good of my life. I love realizing this because I don't always live like this, sad to say.
I love swinging on swings. It is a freeing feeling that I've always enjoyed since I was a child. The rush of wind and having my feet off the ground, sailing back and forth, going anywhere I please...
I love real love stories... like St. Kevin said. The kind that are true to the end and not jus a hollywood young adult, beautiful people glancing at each other and getting that feeling. Like in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, where you realize that you would do anything for the other and that isn't merely sentiment, but true devotion, through the bad and the good.
I love playing a song that gives me goosebumps. Or listening to a song that does the same. I love good classical instrumental stuff that just reaches down inside and overflows.
I love good anime.
I think I need to end this, so finally...
I love when the body of Christ comes together and worships the Lord. Fellowship in Christ, singing to God with all your heart, listening to a convicting sermon, wow, words cannot express. Heaven will be so incredible beyond anything I can fathom. "But until then, my heart will go on singing. But until then, with joy I'll carry on. Until the day my eyes behold the city. Until the day... God calls me home."
Love too all of you as well! :jump:

I have read through most of the stuff on this thread, and I have to agree that most of it is likable. Having said that, I will try to be original with mine, because I like originality. :P

I love working when no one tells you to.
I like people who use few words, but have a lot to say.
I love the feeling of taking a good punch and getting up to fight again.
I love watching a complex argument come together piece-by-piece, especially in writing.
I love waking up the see snow covering the trees, ground, and roof. I used to mean that there would be no school that day, but now that I am in college, it isn't quite the same. :(

And, I love that fact that I have somewhere to be in 20 minutes, so I will have to come back and add to this list a little later. :P

One thing I like is free stuff... *Starts to sing* I LIKE FREE STUFF AND I CANNOT LIE!! (That is one song that there are probably hundreds of parodies of.)

I like animals with soft fur. (Dogs, Cats, Otters...)

I like Pineapple Juice... the fruit itself is good but the juice is the part I love the most.

I like being in solitude... no one around... just by myself in peace and quiet.

That is about it for right now.

Way to go, Eirewolf!

I love

1) buying the 'perfect' gift for someone and seeing the joy in their faces upon receiving it

2) bishies!!!

3) drawing manga for Christians XD

4) mocha, sushi and pad thai

5) my beautiful '96 Toyota Corolla

6) Maaya Sakamoto and Hirai Ken

7) baby seals (white ones especially) so cute!

I love God for
1) giving me a boyfriend who is trustworthy, loyal and patient despite the distance (he's working in Chicago) and even better, supports my work in Christian manga eventhough he's not an anime/manga fan
2) giving me this incredible opportunity to meet you guys in CAA
3) teaching me what church really means, even if the organization is dissolved
4) honoring me with the chance to have wonderful and close, yet platonic relationships with brothers-in-Christ
5) giving me kind-hearted, understanding and nice professors as my research advisors
6) my parents' salvation, protection and health
7) saving my brother from a disasterous marriage

Man, this really helped me feel good! Counting your blessings is a great thing to do! I'm really thankful for God's grace and love now. Alleluia, praise God!

Apes with no faces
And misshapen creatures
Bright red weird thingies
That save all my features
A really long stick
with a nail used to (...)
These are the things I like in Silent Hill

Weird undead horses
With green gaseous toxins
Scary mall subways
Worms bigger than oxen
Knowing that it's not
what you think is your will
These are the things I like in Silent Hill

When the dog flaps
When there's static
When the nurses kill
I know i'm among these my favorite things
In the town of Silent Hill!
