Live Chat version 3.4 now ready

Postby Mithrandir » Mon Mar 27, 2006 11:24 pm

OK. For those of you who are following the development tree closely, Live Chat version 3.4 is now ready for prime time. This system features the many "beta" projects that we've been testing over the last few weeks.

Should be working:
* Emote (Think /me emotes)
* Whisper (now with case insensitive usernames and feedback)
* Native Unicode support (for all your kanji/kana needs.)
* B,I,S,URL tags partially supported (one per customer at this time)
* user-level scroll control is fully supported for most browsers (see below)
* History Clear (for browsers with memory-based lag issues)
* Bandwidth-based Lag has been reduced to (that's right TO, not BY) around 15%.

Beta Functions:
* Quit function
edit:
* Safari and Opera have a limited work around in place for the scroll issue now. Please PM me if you have input on this.

Things that are not planned to be supported:
* Time (We are not planning to impliment time-zone support at this time).
* CAA's "Heavy" skin (Not just to encourage people to be minimalist on the bandwidth, we're also doing this because there are about 10 files that have to be manually updated whenever we make changes. The heavy skin would add four more.)

As always, help can be found at:

The chat can be found by clicking the "chat" button at the top of your screen, or by clicking on this url: http://www.christiananime.net/chat2.php

Thanks! Your development efforts are most appreciated! :)

(Why does "most browsers" not include Opera? :( )

I really wish that safari and opera were compatible with the:
[code]document.getElementById(lastMessage).scrollIntoView()]

tag, but they don't like it. If any javascript experts can shed some light on how to make this work better, I'm all ears. ;)

All details may be found in the manual (help page) listed above. You should be able to find all the information you need there.

Shooby found me a most excellent online resource for help on this. I think we have a functining workaround for safari. I'm not sure about Opera, though. Anyone with opera wanna let me know...? Send me a PM and let me know if scroll is working for you now.

What's the whole point of the chatbot?
