th origans of my anime

Postby Shinja » Mon Jan 12, 2004 7:55 pm

the first time i ever saw any anime was on the cartoonnetwork when i was like 10, they showed 2 movies and i cant remeber thier names, all i remeber was they were wierd and i liked them. one was about this guy who had a thing on his hand and he had to go on a mission, and there were robots....., but i degress, i wouldnt see anymore till i was 16 when i saw dbz, which didnt impress me at the time. it was one of the freza saga episodes and the episode consisted of kerillan whineing about: "what are we going to do?". i didnt actully become a fan till i saw the 8th ms team , 2 1/2 years ago, and from then i was hooked.

what got you hooked?

8th MS and Outlaw Star, during CN's Midnight Run, were what got me hooked.

Either DBZ or Sailor Moon or both.

My first experience would be seeing Sailormoon on those early morning times on WB. Then went through DBZ and Gundam W. What really got me though was Cardcaptor Sakura. ^_^ (shoutout to Sakura/CLAMP fanclub!)

Eeeep, cbwing, the only time I've ever seen GE 999 in English was in Sci-Fi late late one night...-_- You can get it from amazon.com, but they only seem to have tapes (as with a lot of Leiji Matsumoto's work, for some reason...they do not seem to be available on DVD yet).

Back when Nickelodeon showed nothing but anime produced by Saban, there was just something about these "cartoons" that made me never stop watching them. I guess I kinda left the fold for a while to watch Power Rangers in 1993. When I got bored with PR: Zeo in 96, I started watching another 5-person team show called Sailor Moon. The disaster ensued from there.

I saw an episode of Pokemon when I was about three, I think. I didn't like it very much, but around the same time (almost a week later) I watched Hayao Miyazaki's My Neighbor Totoro on display in a store. I've been hooked ever since.
