I think it's great of you to step in since the last thing we need is to not have a leader.

Fast: 1st December 2005

Postby Mave » Tue Nov 29, 2005 10:30 pm

Dear fellow PGs,

Just a friendly reminder that a volunteer-basis fast is around the corner on the first day of December, regardless of where you are on this planet. ^^

It's up to you what you will fast from, whether it may be something tangible (i.e. food) or a habit/activity. I would like to believe that denying ourselves certain things will help us to focus our minds on God and prayers better. I think I'll be fasting from music. *nods*

I've been at the Prayer Room a lot lately. There are people trying to confront friends and youth groups (I think that those on their own are some really big prayer requests) also, several people are getting discouraged and fed up with life.
I just thought I'd put those up there. I'll be praying mostly for those requests during my fast, unless some other big ones pop up.
I'm thinking about fasting from the internet, but I might fast from food again instead. still thinking about it.

HELLO FELLOW BROTHERS, this next day of the First my Fast will be from the internet, which is a tough habbit of mine to break, so unless it is for a school assighnment, or I am using biblegateway.com, I will not be on the internet or CAA for that matter, although sometimes my computer doesnt sign out all the time, so it may appear as if I am online but I am really not *BEATS COMPUTER SENSLESS* I wonder if that helped, and so anyway, my prayer requests I will pray for and I ask if you will pray for is just my whole school life cause it seems to be getting harder each day, not to mention that alot of my friends are starting to hate me because of my Faith...so yeah, and also my family problems

okay see ya wendsday, and Friday, but not Thursday the 1st

Can I fast from an exam? I have a big theory exam on the 1st. *sigh*

Actually, I'm not sure what I'll fast yet. Time to think!

* Oh, and on a side note, I've decided to close the invitation for volunteers to help out with the Prayer List. Only a couple of people agreed, so for now, the Prayer List is once again dormant. I would like to get back into the groove during Christmas break, which is just around the corner. Keep your eyes peeled for List updates, just in case. :thumb:

Man, and all those hours on Wednesdays gone to waste!

Well, the CAA server has been down, and I just got back from a funeral trip (3 days of driving around, mostly) just in time to start jury duty today, so no fast for me. I'll still pray, though.

Hey guys; I just wanted to pop in here and say sorry for disappearing suddenly (as Mave said, my broadband went down). During that time, I felt God tell me to lay aside almost everything that I was involved in. This has been going on for about 3 or so weeks now, and I'm still not sure it is time to resume everything again.

So, sorry for leaving you suddenly, but Mave appears to be doing a great job  Do you mind doing this for a bit longer?

Also, please keep me in your prayers. I'm not entirely sure what God is doing in my life, but whatever it is He wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't important. Anyway, I'll keep you guys in my prayers as well ^^ I miss you all

TALAME!

(Sorry for knocking you down with such a big glomp there.)

I'll be praying for you, Talame. Continue to follow God's lead. :thumb:

And about my fast: It went really well. I fasted from sweets, and boy did I want some to celebrate the end of my exams last night with some fudge brownies! But I prayed a bunch instead all day, and it was really great.

Oh, wait, my exam period this semester involved only one exam... Mwahahaha! *runs from the other madly jealous students preparing to throw bricks in disgust*

Rogie, LOL it's like me asking to fast from work (yeah right!). I'm completely immune to candy (eehhh too sweet, my throat hurts!) so that type of fast would have been completely pointless to me! XDDDD Good job with the fast and da list :thumb:

My fast from music went pretty Ok. I almost forgot while driving to work in the morning and at night, man......I was like "Ahhhhhhhhh....it's too quiet! (>_<) ;;; "

SP1, good to have you drop by despite your full schedule. ^^

Well...what do you know, it's Talame! I'll be more than happy to look out for ya while you're busy heeding His Spirit's lead. I'll do my best (it probably won't be as good a job as Talame would do) but I'll be around. *nods* We'll be keeping the prayers going, yo.

Hey Josh, don't beat yourself over it. It sounds like you had a valid reason for it and if you feel led, go ahead and try fasting again at some other time, k? The most important thing is to do it out of love for God and not to pass some 'test'.

Well, good news, all! The Prayer List is officially back. Woohoo! I would really appreciate prayer to keep this going and for me to be able to start focusing more on serving God. :thumb:

In the meantime, you can start using the List again to pray for the requests of our fellow CAA'ers.

My fast went well. I decided to fast from listening to Christmas music (because at my house starting the day after Thanksgiving it's Christmas music nonstop until mid-January). This meant that the rest of my family had to fast from it too , but they were very willing.

Rogie, it's great to hear the list is back. :thumb: Anna Mae, glad to hear your fast went well.

*sigh* I must admit that I'm being dragged back to self-gratifying ways again and at this point, I'm just fighting to feel sensitive to the Spirit's Conviction. It's like Romans 7: 15-25

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.

For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

I don't quite understand the conclusion of this verse but I sure can relate to the whole situation.

Although I've heard a few different interpretations of that passage, it seems that this might be the main point: though we might realize we need to obey the law, we cannot do it on our own because of our sinful nature. I dunno if that was helpful or not, but yeah, I think most can relate. I'm having a similar experience just returning from Bible College. What was everyday routine during College now has to become spiritual discipline now that I've graduated. Whew. Let's lift each other up in staying in touch with God.

I'm pretty sure that they're on the 1st and the 15th, unless they were changed when I wasn't looking.

Anyway, I'm taking the time to let everyone know that I'm still an active PG. Not active in the sense that I post very often, but rather active in the sense that I spend time praying and fasting for fellow caa'ers, and can seldom think of anything useful to say afterwards, so I hold my tongue. Yeah, our next fast is coming up on the 1st of January. That's New Year's Day, and since some of us may be having big dinners with family, everyone should be reminded that it is not necessary to fast food on our fast days. However, if you feel led to fast from food for our fast day, then I would think doing it on the 2nd would be fine, especially in the case of any special family time. :thumb:

Does that sound good for everyone?

Thanks, Roger-san for following up on this! :)

Yes, 2nd January sounds good to me for a fast. I also have an additional suggestion if anyone wishes to pick up it (completely optional and personal between you and God). You know all those new year's resolutions we made all the time? Well, you can choose a habit to make your priority and focus for next year whether it's a good or bad habit.

If you have a prayer partner, let them know so they can check on how you're doing throughout year 2006. For me, I desire to have a more consistent prayer schedule. At the moment, my prayer time has been kinda haphazard due the pressures of other activities.

Now, remember this: Even if you fail/fall, the overall key theme in this new year resolution is your promise to God to NEVER GIVE UP TRYING through the year. :thumb:

Good idea, Mave! I rarely do resolutions, but perhaps this year, I can focus on worrying less and relying on God more. I need to pray to get rid of the dread I feel when stressful things come up.

Good idea, good idea! :thumb:

I wanted to post a quick reply to encourage the PGs. Thanks for your faithfulness to set aside time to focus on praying for the needs.
Theme Scripture: Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)

And a verse for all us single folks: Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? (1 Corinthians 9:5)

Meanwhile, let's pray for our forums as our mods work out issues with some unfriendly visitors.

And about the carrots at work: Bugs Bunny would love that part of the job, huh? (Or Ryo-ohki, for that matter.) Sorry, just had to add a dorky joke there.
