I am so excited. Like everyone else, I too need to order my HBP. Now that all my mission's money is in, I'm free to spend my money in whatever way I want! Woo-hoo. Erego, I think I shall order my copy post-haste.

Should we convert this into a conversation thread or should we open an offical discussion thread? Oh well, either way, I'm depressed 'cause most of the really good conversation will be over by the time I get back in the country on the 26th of July (2:00a.m.) Oh! If only the world would pause for Osaka!

Okay, may I tack on that I think we'll find out in this book that Lupin secretly was in love with Lily.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Woohoo! I pre-ordered mine from BarnesandNoble.com and I think they've arranged it so that it arrives in the mail the same day it's released. I hope so, anyway.

If you pre order from Borders or Waldenbooks you get a big discount, and It ends up being like 18 dolars. Thats what I did.

That's what I did. something like 40-50% off.

And if they try to have it to the customer on the release date, it might come early...

(I remember the zoo when I preordered Pheonix through Borders for the store.)

Sorry to interrupt all you excited people, but to bring this thread back to its original purpose:

I, personally, can't believe that no one has mentioned this already (I just combed through every post on the thread, to make sure!), because this definitely deserves mention.
Remember the Priori Incantatum from the Goblet of Fire? When Harry made the people come out of Voldemort's wand in the reverse order that he killed them?

Did anybody but me notice that JAMES CAME OUT OF THE WAND BEFORE LILY DID?!?! Wasn't he supposed to have DIED FIRST, and, therefore COME OUT SECOND?!?!?!

There is no way that Rowling would be that inconsistent. It has to mean something...
Anybody else with me on this one? I think this is going to play a major role in the next two books.
In a world shrouded in mystery, the winds of change begin to blow.

<shrug> Personally, I think it was an inconsistency. Everything we've seen so far indicates that this was just a slip... though perhaps one she may try to correct by a convenient explanation

I am with Heretic on this one, I think it was a mistake. Rowling is only human after all, and the book was over 700 pages, so if one paragraph containes an error I think that is permissable.

I think the really big surprise in the series so far is the fact that Harry's dad was a real jerk the way he treated Voldemort when they were at Hogwarts together.

You mean Snape?
Unless I misremembered things: I thought Tom Riddle was in Hogwarts a long time before James Potter ever was
Yeah that was good. I was hoping JK was going to bring Snape and Harry closer to a little rapport there, but evidently I was wrong there. Personally, I'd like to see the chara of Snape redeemed. He's my favorite character

Yes! Rowling seems to be bringing Snape up to a better light, but that could always be suddenly smashed down. XD] Just 16 more days!!!

It was Snape that James was really mean to when they were together at Hogwarts.

Ahem. Back on topic: I know in the past we've speculated whether or not Harry is going to die. Do y'all remember the prophecy? Either Harry or Voldemort has to die. Soo...things might not be looking so good for Harry now. Personally, I hope it's Voldemort that dies. I also hope that Ron dies so that Harry and Hermione can get together.

XD;;; But.. but.. Ron is so funny! Voldemort is a shribbled baby thing, so no big loss, but Ron! o__o I hope Rowling doesn't kill Harry off to make it more dramatic. Of course, if she did, the title "Harry Potter and the _____" would have to be changed...

Rowling has made it clear several times that Harry X Hermione isn't a possibility...

I am waiting for this book, but I'll have to wait longer than 16 days... I have to wait for it to be available at the Library... Either that, or until my roomie gets and reads it...

EDIT: For the UK readers, what are the "Adult Editions"? Is it just better looking covers, or is there a difference in content?

And let's also remember that Rowling only has one more novel left to write(or is it two more?).So she might be trying to underhype the finale to keep people guessing.
Or she might not even know how all the relationships are going to end up in the end.

Could be. I think it will be HermioneXRon, because this is something that has been building up a bit... they get closer the deeper in we go, but it coul;d also be a headfake...

Rowling DEFINITELy knows how everything is going to end up. Books that are as well written and deep as these aren't just written paragraph by paragraph. They're well mapped out long before they're written.

I wish that HermioneXHarry were possible, but, while it still is a minor possibility, it's hightly unlikely. I'm with everyone else that HermioneXRon is almost inevitable. Unless Ron dies of course. . . (personally, I think if one of the golden trio dies, it's going to be Hermione.)
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear.
