Because, in the ILB (I Love Bees) area, they talk about something called Crystal Clear Security. I've always thought of it as being spelled with a 'K' instead of 'C'. Strange coincidence.

I would have to say in my case, a woman younger than myself who would want to have children, look past my age and both of our imprefections, to live and work together on the same level, accept the things that I and they have done in in our past without making judgement and consider that in the past, be loyal to each other. I have dated in the past and those I did had their faults, other agendas and others on their minds that would lead up to seperation.
I have not seen anyone in over 10 years. Its not safe to be out at night in alot of areas where I live and you have to travel to find a safe area.
The church I belonged to sold the building and moved an hour away and is in danger of folding completely because of lack of new and young members. My work affected my church attendance and forced me out to make a living and to protect my community but feel I did not give up being a Christain because of it.
I guess if I had to have a anime character has my better half it would be

*finishes reading over ideals by the guys* Well, it's interesting to what the expectations are!

As for me, I'll just list a few biggies:

-Christian...just be odd to be without someone who doesn't understand...)
-same interests/can put up with my obsessiveness with anime etc.
-someone who can be serious sometimes... I know a lot of guys that are pretty immature and heck, I am too sometimes. But there has to be a time to be serious sometimes!
-someone who can take a girl's hints. Not for anything bad but ya know, if the girl's outside and says "I'm cold" it can mean "I'm cold and want a hug" sort of thing. *melts* ^^
-bishie.... *cough* beauty IS in the eyes of the beholder....
(bonus!)-mid-sized dreads *cough* ever since teen camp... kakkoi! If only it was a popular hairstyle...

This is an excellent thread!

It's great to have the guys posting their standards, too! I have heard a lot of women speak about that (I'm guessing because it's probably easier to talk to your own gender about what you look for in the opposite sex) but not enough guys, so I want to thank all the guys who've posted. (The girls, too - but the guys especially. :) ).

1) Yes, like everyone else I've read so far, my ideal partner has to be a Christian. No buts about it. Ideally, he'd be stronger than me - but it'd also be nice for us to have different strengths so that we could edify, teach, build and encourage each other. I'd love a guy I could talk to and say something like: 'You know, I was walking outside today, and heard all the bird-songs... and it suddenly hit me how wonderful God has made everything' - and he could get excited about that with me. Also, it'd be great if he were good at studying the bible and teaching from it - I find it hard to get into God's word sometimes, and haven't had much experience in properly studying it in context, etc, instead of just reading it.

2) An early bird! Someone who doesn't mind rising bright and early to do a devotional reading, dig into God's word and have a prayer to preoperly get girded up for another day in the life of a Christ-follower!

3) Someone who likes to sing, and who is hopefully all right at singing, too! Or even at accompanying a singer. (yeah - me, hopefully :P ). Someone who might write songs as well, especially praise songs. An artist would be excellent, too. Not even serious art, just doodling random cartoons, etc.

4) Likes to have fun, but generally a calm, solid, guy. Deep, too. Someone who can share their feelings - and someone who will listen. A man who will hold me when I need to cry - and who I can do the same to.

5) A man who is loving. In general. Things like being good with little children and animals - because that shows a kind man.

6) A man who will be sorry if there is a fight or hurt. I'm not saying he has to be the one to always apologise or anythihng - but someone who will not hold a grudge or delibrately hurt out of anger.

7) Someone who loves music, and who will take me to Christian music concerts! (Go Switchfoot!!!) .

-Yes, I know that I also have to keep myself to a high standard. I'm committed to doing my best to love the man God has for me - not just to recieving love. I don't want to get into a relationship because of the feeling of love etc. that I get from it (though yes, that's pretty important) but I also want to go into a relationship because I love that man and want his highest good - in God. I want us to be stronger Christians together, and able to do his work as a team. I'll wait for him. I want the first man I date to be the one I marry - and for me to follow where God leads, though I acknowledge that it can be difficult at times.

 That was fun. There's probably lots more I can add to that list, but it's long enough already - and I don't expect my man to be perfect... I just expect him to know that I'm not, either! :D

But... if I stay single all my life, that's all right, too. You can be perfectly happy being single - if that's just your walk with God. If I'm called to be single, then I'll be all right with it because God can fill that gap of lonliness. I won't depend on a man to fill that gap - I want God to. Eek. Difficult to explain, I guess. I suppose I'm trying to say I don't want to be needy of a man, nor he of me, though we probably will need each other. Just that I look to God to provide for my happiness, and not my man (though he will make me happy, and hopefully I him also. :) ). Hope you guys get what I'm trying to say :P

God bless you all and the people God's put in place for you, too.

 :laughs:

Whoa - I didn't even list any physical qualities! :D

-Actually... the non-physical qualities are much, much more important - because those are the ones I'd have to live with (and the ones I'd love more) :) .

But, ideally, I'd like a guy taller or about the same height as me (I'm average height so it's not that hard ;) ); about average or round-about average build... with warm brown eyes that are full of good humour, an easily-provoked, slow, also warm grin, and an easy laugh. Don't really mind the hair. Black, brown, blonde, green..... ;) . Maybe someone who doesn't dress too grunge or goth, though. Personal preference ;) . :D . Jeans and a t-shirt are fine by me!

:D :D :D :D

I'm out...if a girl said "I'm cold" to me, my immediate response would be, "Well, put on a jacket." Unless of course, she was already wearing a jacket.

Well, to be honest, that depends on the context. For example, when it's 70 out my mom is cold. So, if it was 70 and my girlfriend said, "I'm cold," I would respond, "It's not cold, it feels nice out." If we were in Michigan or Canada or something and she said, "It's cold," I'd say, "What do you expect? It's the north." If we were outside of our house doing something, I would say, "Well, if you're cold then go inside."

There's lots of other situations too. The point is, in none of those situations would I think about hugging her. My logical engineer brain would be more concerned with solving her problem of being cold than considering a display of affection.

Yeah.

I'd never say anything like that to make a guy hug me. If I say "I'm cold" I'm just stating the obvious, as always.

I can see what you're getting at, Kaemmerite, and I agree. I guess we girls should just straight out and ask for a hug because it's cold rather than just stating the reason we want a hug and expecting the guy to figure it out. (If the shoe were on the other sock, would we figure it out?).

Maybe it's one of those differences between girls and guys - that guys tend to be more logical and want to solve a girl's problems rather than get vague hints of what's going on and nothing outright? What do you all think?

I know there's got to be more to it than that, and of course there are always exceptions to the rule... but I think that could be part of it.

I think that you might have pointed out a vague trend, but that it is dangerous to form opinions about people simply because of their gender. On the other hand, I would say that expecting anyone to take vague hints is a bad idea unless you know them fairly well. People leave hints in so vastly different ways that generally you're wasting your time.

You're right - making generalisations about a specific gender is a bad idea. Sorry about that. I didn't really think hard enough, did I? I'll try to think harder in the future before making speculations. :shake:

So, I guess the point should read: we should all, regardless of gender, try to make it clear to others what we're trying to say, rather than vaguely hinting at and dancing all around the issue. Because then if people don't get the hint, and we get mad - well.. it's our own fault. :hits_self

Yup, most guys think logically and I guess that's why hints aren't ever recognized. Then again, it could always happen the other way around and they only think that they're being hinted... *shrugs*

Yeah I've been watchign too much shoujo anime and I still remember this one little Sailor Moon scene:

Usagi: Mamo-chan it's cold out... could you warm me up?
Mamaru: ok *heads back into house*
Usagi: What are you doing?
Mamaru: I'm getting some hot chocolate to warm you up.
Usagi: -_-' Mamo-chan you're so dense!

Guess it's pretty much the same thing. Not like a guy can really read a girl's mind anyhow, being the "complicated" creatures we are.

Gosh you preteens/teens make feel so old. :P

I think it is important that the guy I like is a Christian and I'm talking about one who has a relationship with Christ, and that we would have some things in common. You know share simular interests, like drawing, and performing/writing music. When it comes to hobbies I'm really one of those gals who's into the boys world of collecting action figures, reading comics, and I'm not bad at playing video games. :)
Looks, um I don't think I can narrow in on one type of guy, ok I guess Greg long would be a start. :P Seriously though I think God knows the type of guy I'd be attracted to so I'll just leave that alone.
Overall his values and Christianity would be the two top factors, and I'm glad to see that most of you agree with that. :)

As for anime, Yugioh is my fav, but I'm new to anime so in the future that might change.
God Bless,
Souba

A word about everyone who listed looks (and I paint with a broad brush). Such a transient trait. Look at pictures of your parents years ago... most of the time they look incredibly different. Some couples I know have four or five different phases, during each of which their appearances totally change. Think about it honestly... your body starts going downhill (in an overall sense) at about age 40. Assuming you intend to live a while, you could spend two thirds of your life with your spouse deteriorating, every day becoming less than you once were, leading up toward inevitable death. Most people lose their looks quickly, even faster if the other person has youthful standards (as most youth today do). The merest fraction of anyone's marraige will be with a person who looks the same as they did on the day of marraige... excepting movie stars, who divorce people every lunch break or so.

I would agree with this, except for the fact that I would like my children to be somewhat good-looking. Sad as it is, good-looking people are more likely to succeed in the world. So because of this, I would include looks in my criteria for selecting a mate.

My original point was that the criterion of looks will either be
1) entirely subjective (in which case you only mean that the person is beautiful to you and I have no problem with it)
2) irrelevant in a few years

That is, looks change greatly over time, and hence that criterion seems (to myself, personally) to be a fairly unimportant criterion compared to other, less transient, factors.

The list 2.2
1. Christian
2. Calm
3. Caring
4. Tactful - knows how to let me know I did somthing dumb, without totally degrading me.
5. Dosn't mind anime.
6. Dosn't mind listening to classical.
7. Not gun shy of cultured events (plays, classical concerts, musicals...stuff like that, I love musicals)
8. Isn't jealous of the fact that my best friend is a girl and that I work with her on art and writing projects.
9. Athletic to some degree.
10. likes children - well just say it bugs me when someone hates kids/is scared of them
11. Can do things on her own... not entirely dependant on me for everything. I dont want a super princess that sits around and wants me to do it all. I wanna girl with a spine.

Aoi-chan (Ai Yori Aoshi) + a strong walk with God=my ideal wife ^^
Aoi-chan is a Japanese beauty who has taste in traditional Japanese culture (hence her constant kimono-wearing). I hope that's how my wife will be. And most importantly, she does her best in everything, is kind to everyone and tries to help them, and she loves Kaoru more than anything and is always trying to please him and do her best for him, and she loves him without bounds no matter what. She seems so humble and pure. This always touches me, and I hope my future wife is like that too. ^^

What *do* I look for in a guy? -puzzles- Same as what I look for in any friend, guy or girl. 'Specially since I don't think of guys in a serious "romantic" sense beyond a crush unless I've been friends with them for sometime. -laugh-

Sense of humor, honesty, loyalty, trustworthy, real (as in not trying to be something they're not), caring, kind, hilarious, serious, dedicated, intelligent, and loving. Now what would make a guy ideal is if he can play an instrument or sing or both. And for this case, no, drums do not count as an instrument. :P Guitar's best since that instrument just pulls at some intangible cord in the depths of my soul. I seem to be surrounded my musically inept men. -sigh- Ah well.

As for the anime guy who would best suit me....so far I think Andre from The Rose of Versailles. He's got all I listed and can carry a tune. -laugh-
