Exactly what I was thinking. . .

Okay, so what's some Harry related thought we can all commentate on?

(Was anyone selse disappointed by the guy they chose to be James Potter-- he's in the pictures and the mirror for those who can't remember him even being in the movie. I mean, the guy looked NOTHING like Harry. Made me so sad. . . )
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. Yeah, it was the best, IMHO.

The Secret Door at JKR's official sight (http://www.jkrowling.com/) reopened, and if you can break the code, there's a new excerpt from HBP. Check it out!

I didn't find the secret door (mayhaps because I was browsing in text-only, would that stop me?). But I hadn't ever even been to the site, and I found some interesting/amusing information. Thanks.

I'm scared to get on any Potter sites. Why you ask? Because I don't want to know anything before I read it. Even if it's just a guess, there are alot of smart Potter fans who have figured alot of stuff out that I *sigh* haven't. I guess I'll just settle for being completely shocked when I read the next book. *wait gleefully for the release of the next book-- when ever it is.*

I love reading all the theories. There's so many; I don't know how easy it would be to kill the shock of what really happens.

Anyone figure out the code thing? I'm really bad at those sort of things and can't make heads or tails out of it...

I'm pretty good with codes, but I don't really want to try. Takes too many brain cells and I need all the ones I have right now to pass my classes.

The only Potter site I ever bother with is mugglenet.com, and that's usually just to check the news. They have an entire forum over there devoted to digging up clues and whatnot, but I've never really went into it.

Aka-Chan wrote:Anyone figure out the code thing?

Here it is:
1) Click on the black hair tie on the middle of JKR's desk; that's the portkey which takes you to the Door.

2) Open the door, line up your mouse parallel with the bottom windowsill and start clicking inside the door to turn on the light switch; it's about in the middle, and is rather tricky to find.

3) Once you find that, you'll see a dartboard and 3 arrows sitting to the lower right of the dartboard. Throw three of them in this order: 7, 1, 3 (The code to the vault in Gringots the Philosopher's stone was in. Thanks, Taylor!)

4) This will move the dartboard and show a Gringots Digital Electronic Safe. Enter the code 302723* to unlock the safe, and voila!

*On a phone, the number 302723 (without the 0) spells out "Farce", which is a term that means "A light dramatic work in which highly improbable plot situations, exaggerated characters, and often slapstick elements are used for humorous effect".
UC wrote:(mayhaps because I was browsing in text-only, would that stop me?).

Yes. Here's the hint from inside the safe if you don't want to bother with the flash site:
(Typewritten with JRK’s handing writing on the side) He looks rather like an old lion. There were streaks of grey in his mane of tawny hair and his bushy eyebrows]

I've never gone to her official site before today, but I found this to be really funny: "Rumor: I am going to write a book about Lily and James... Answer: Once again, too much "Star Wars" can do this to a person." Hahahahahahahahaha... That makes two rips on star wars...

That's great. As much as I like Star Wars, who can't find that response funny? *several memebers emerge from the shadows and raise their hands* THE QUESTION WAS RETORICAL!!!

That would be cool though, a book about James and Lily that is. It's love to see exactly what happened between the "teasing Snape" incident and the day they got married. Yep, I'd definitely read it.

1. It is immensly funny and the hardcore starwars fans should get the most amusement out of this joke (though the first one may offend them... The one about people saying Voldy is Harry's "real" dad... It is true, since Star Wars, "the villain is my dad?" has been way overused, including at least 2 Squaresoft RPG's... Both of which I love, but still... it would be dumb for her to make that sort of twist, especially after the thing at the end of Goblet of Fire, even if she did make a mistake in the order there...)

2. All the backstory that needs to be told, including the stuff about James and Lily, will be told in books 6 and 7, according to rowling, which is why there will be no prequals except for a possible encyclopedia thing for charity...

Yay! I'm glad we haven't heard the last from Lily and James.

BTW, what was the mistake made in Order of the Pheonix?

I'm a Star Wars fan, and it was funnier to me for it. Both jokes, actually. Even though it's cliche now, because Star Wars was the original it is exempt in my mind. Likewise, I am curious as to this mistake in the order. Now meanwhile:

"Luke, I am your overused plot device."

The mistake was the order the echoes of the Avada Kadavera curse came out of Voldemort's wand in Goblet of Fire, not in the Order book.

Ah-ha! So there was an error in the order of the echos.

I was suspicious of that however I didn't want to second guess Rowling.

Rowling covers this on her website... aparently the problem was with a late night doing the final editing for the American version... her editor thought it was the wrong way around and suggested the change (as it appears now)... and Rowling, short on sleep, agreed and made the change.

I really liked Order of the Phoenix, it struck me as a book much more focused on an older audiance. But then again, I wasn't as focused on it as Lehn was. Though I did speed read all of them, because I can't afford to actually buy them or try to check them out.

 If you had a $67 jackpot riding on the matter of finishing it before all of your friends, you'd be pretty focused too, boyo.

HP keeps getting darker, and darker with every book, I think JK is trying to bring out the fact that they aren't cute-'ikkle-ducky-and-bunny-happy-go-lucky-kiddie books anymore.
She's started knocking off main charas, and swearing much more often. Did anyone else feel as if OotP had more swearing then all of the other books combined?

I didn't really notice that much more swearing in OotP. But then again, I sorta just skim over lanuage in books, so I wasn't really tallying it.

On the matter of darkness, I noticed it a bit but not to the extent that it made the books unpleasant to read.

On the matter of speed reading, I never try to speed read because it makes the book that I waited so long for end far too soon. I try to streach it out for at least 72 hours.

The one thing that bugged me about OotP was that there were more unimportant details in it... Let me explain. In GoF every single paragraph had at least one clue to the final conclusion. (well most paragraphs) I have read GoF at least four times and I find new things every time. But in OotP such detail was conspicuously absent. or at least it seemed so to me. I may be wrong. (I don't think I am) Did anyone else notice this?
