That scarf. ;_;

SPOILER: Highlight text to read: So Eren really is gone. I LIKED THAT KID. щ(ಥДಥщ) He seemed like a really good take on the "hotheaded, driven, angry shonen lead."

But Mikasa's freaking awesome. I'm worried her skills will wane after finding out that Eren died.

lol scarf tying 101. SPOILER: Highlight text to read: I'd still say there's a 99.9% chance Eren is alive. This was like a don't mention him and make viewers think he's really dead episode. He probably got saved while Armin was unconscious and we don't know about it yet. Then after everyone's like "omg Eren's dead ;;" suddenly we find he's alive! Probably. Honestly I hope I'm wrong but the writing feels like a very blatantly cliched fake death event. Also, Mikasa pretty good.

^ SPOILER: Highlight text to read: I don't know. He'd have to have been saved pretty soon after being swallowed, given how acidic most stomachs are, and there was no sign of him escaping around where Armin was. And I don't think anyone except Armin knows that he was eaten, so he couldn't have been rescued either.

There's a pretty good number of dead titans in the series but they usually come at the cost of many precious lives. Also you guys are all adorable.

I find this series has a few really weird parts to it... like, how would the walls have been built in the first place? They can't even repair a hole in time before titans show up and wreak havok, so how would they have been able to build three titan-proof walls almost a millenia ago? Technology declines in times of peace, not in times of need.

Also, I wonder who the first person to ever kill one was... just from the first episode, I get the feeling that it was unheard of to kill even one.

Such an interesting world they've created...

I'll throw out a few possibilities:

The walls were built while the battle lines were still far from the city, with the forces of the time buying time for their completion.

As for why they couldn't rebuild:
a) the equipment used was dismantled/broke/rusted away long ago and no replacements were made or remain.
b) the quarry that the materials were from was outside the walls. (seems kind of stupid now, but they thought the walls were impenetrable; and would have been prioritizing farmland anyway)
c) they just didn't have time.

...I need to start actually watching this thing... :sweat:

I choose c) they just didn't have time. if they had mech it be a lot easier but do not and can see how extremely hard it is to fight a giant that regenerates. even though they have canons it does little good since they regenerate.

Umm ep 7 SPOILER: Highlight text to read: So Eren didn't die nor was he saved, he turned into a titan! So my first thought is something like titans are some failed super human experiment but they continued said research to battle current titans and all these military people are actually being trained to be turned into titans or something (we know Eren got injected with some mysterious fluid which is probably some titan serum)...But surely it's not that dumb, right? And being struck by lightning activates it which explains how the colossal titan appeared out of nowhere so he's actually some normal human who wants to speed up the titan experiments for his own gain! Wow so many dumb ideas are coming to me, I'll stop here. Hopefully I'm plenty wrong but I can't see that titan not being Eren so I better get some real good explanation.

Nope. One thing Shingeki no Kyojin is short on is explanations, at least so far. There are good reasons to believe it's more complicated than that, but we don't know much yet.

There's definitely an answer about the walls, though. It doesn't really explain anything, but there is an answer.

I guess that explains the need for hand-to-hand combat training.

The background music was gorgeous this episode. ;w;

SPOILER: Highlight text to read: A Titan with dark hair, fighting skills, and an unstoppable rage against other Titans. I'm 92% sure that it's Eren. I'm actually kind of glad it's him, since he gets to fulfill his life purpose of killing Titans.

This series has definitely surpassed Gargantia as my favorite show this season.

This, so much. I am hoping the next manga chapter is going to give up some answers but it's a slim hope and of course, that's still ages away in the anime.

It was somewhere around here that I started liking Armin a lot more.

To those who have read the manga, anyone else find themselves just shouting obscenities at certain characters whenever they're onscreen? No. Just me then...

About the walls, yeah I would say they just didn't have time to fix it, since there are always titans hanging around just outside them who basically entered the city immediately after the hole was made.

Just got around to watching episode 7. That music, that heroic charge...

SPOILER: Highlight text to read: ...Eren lopping off heads with his bear hands.

I actually cried a little. I think they nailed the scenes perfectly.

(WARNING: Manga spoilers in the tag, to those of you it may concern)

@GeneD

SPOILER: Highlight text to read: Not so much shouting obscenities for me... More like crying because still I can't hate them. I view their dialogue so much differently now. ;_;

Also, an explanation would be nice. ;_;

Manga spoilers:
SPOILER: Highlight text to read: I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about that twist. It turns the monsters vs humans thing on its head, which is interesting, but I'm not sure what it will do to the plot. But I'm pretty sure I'll reread the series once it's complete because much of it will have been reframed.

All caught up now(well through ep 6, dont have premium), when will ep 7 be available for the free members? Also does this show remind anyone else of death note. In subtle ways, the same dark overtones, the art style, and the little tidbits before and after commercials. Does anyone else notice this. I thoroughly enjoy it.

Attack on Titan comes out on Sundays on Crunchyroll at 8am PST, and the previous episode is made free to members when the new one in released. They've had a few hiccups in release times these past few weeks, though, so the time may be off.

And it probably reminds you of Death Note because they're by the same director.

@LastLfan http://www.crunchyroll.com/launchcalendar Nifty way of keeping track of when what shows for whom.

When I open it, it doesn't actually show SoK because it's not licensed for my region, but I assume when someone else views the calendar it's customised to whatever's available in their region. I know if you view the Crunchyroll list of shows it's definitely customised that way.

Episode 8:

I feel the early stream was to try to make up for the last two delays.
ANOTHER AMAZING EPISODE. And because I can't seem to avoid it, MANGA SPOILERS AHEAD.

SPOILER: Highlight text to read: When Reiner asked Connie about Titan Eren, I had to pause the stream to run a few laps around my house. I swear my family thinks something is wrong with me. The foreshadowing... Also, I'm finding myself more attached to Marco than before. I get welled up whenever he is on screen. :sweat:

I am so in love with this series, it's probably bad for my health. :sweat:

I don't think this episode carried the same momentum as last week's, but it was nonetheless enjoyable.
