You're thanking me for suggesting my favorite manga? I should be thanking you for helping support it. In the vein of FMA being awesome, you might like some of Arakawa's other one shots, Stray Dog, Bat in a Blue Sky(Souten no Koumori), and Raiden-18.

Speaking of which, the libraries I frequent have been buying manga and need ideas, so I provided them with a couple(small town), but if you guys have any suggestions, please give them to me. I'll give you what I like and what I'm about to read some of because they ordered them.
Liked:
FMA
20th Century Boys
Yotsuba&!
Azumanga Daioh
Solanin
Tegami Bachi
Blade of the Immortal
Ouran High School Host Club
Rurouni Kenshin

Stuff I'm gonna read so you don't recommend it to me when I'm already going to read it:
Monster
Pluto
Mushi-shi

If you liked that, then you'd probably like Wallflower- it's about a couple of glamorous bishies that are hired by this girl's aunt to turn her into a real lady- something they find.... intimidating, since she's got bad hair and dirty clothes and likes everything horror. One of her constant companions is an anatomy mannequin!

And I'm recommending NANA- it's a mature romance, like Solanin, but also very good. Just.... with more drama. One of the girls is always in and out of dysfunctional relationships. The other seems to have it more together.

FMA also reminds me of Pandora Hearts and Claymore.

Hatters, you didn't recommend Rurouni Kenshin to them? For shame...

If they don't mind historically accurate depictions of what women wore in ancient India (read: not much at times), then Buddha needs to be in those libraries.

Osamu Tezuka's Buddha manga is so good that when Jesus and Buddha were sharing an apartment together, Buddha read it and loved it!

Heh, oops. I forgot to mention that I've read and loved Rurouni Kenshin. I did remember it the first time but then I bumped one of my bookmarks and had to start over again, and apparently forgot it. Funnily enough, RK is actually the only series both libraries have, one of them has 1-28(though, of course, it doesn't have the climax of the best story arc there is).

Thanks for the recommendations, guys! I'll be sure to give them.

Could somebody tell me something about the manga "Blame!" concerning nudity and "bad religion"?
The story sounds very interesting. :)
Thanks a lot!

Hi, I'm new here to CAA and i thought i would ask a question.

I was looking on the web for manga or anime that had Christian principles or was at least clean when i found this site. I was wondering if any of you could give me recommendations for manga with Christian principles(Not sure if there is any) or manga that is Clean. When i say i want clean manga (Peoples definitions are not always the same), i am talking about there being no Nudity, occasional language(nothing I've seen has been completely clean except for the manga Bible), no senseless violence(Only what is needed for the story), and I really don't like it when the story deals a lot with magic, occult practices or dealing with gods.(if it is only a little or it isn't offensive to Christians then its fine. An example of this is Clannad. it was fine except for the whole future telling stuff.) The only problem with being this picky is that if there is a anime/manga that does fit this description then usually the story is lacking and its for kids. I really enjoy a good story that makes you think and maybe is for a more mature audience(I'm 18), i just don't like all the baggage a mature theme comes with(language, nudity, etc). sorry that this is such a long description but i wanted to make everything clear. so if you can recommended any good manga i would be really happy. thanks for everything :)

Hi and welcome to the boards! Technically there are no manga-manga that are Christian. I think there's a sticky about this in the manga thread. However, there are many manga that you can interpret to have Christian principles- some principles are universal, so you'll see them even if the manga isn't Christian.

As for clean manga, there are a few. One of the most popular on here is Yotsuba&!, which is just a fun story about a silly girl and her misadventures. I'm 22, and I enjoy it, when usually I'm into darker stuff!

I would also recommend: A Distant Neighborhood
20th Century Boys (this does deal with someone making themself into a 'God' of sorts, but he is miserably defeated)
Pluto
Seizon -LifE-
Liar Game
Team Medical Dragon
The Hour of the Mice

I have a few more that I can recommend, but is this enough to get you started?

While this is an absolutely fantastic series and I recommend it highly, be aware that it does contain female nudity and sexual innuendo on occasion.

Liar Game
This is almost perfectly clean. There is a transvestite, but not much is made of his/her gender bending, aside from a chapter opening panel that has he/she in a revealing outfit. It is an interesting series if you like mind games.

Pluto
Another extremely good series. This one has some violence and murder, but not anything too grotesque, and is certainly plot required.
Where an Eidolon, named night, on a black throne reigns upright.

True. Mention should be made that the nudity (and it's once for the female, once for the guys) only happens twice or three times, and it's very brief (one page per incident in 22 volumes of manga, and it's not always sexual). Sexual innuendo is just as rare.

Thanks everyone for the manga recommendations and descriptions, they all sound really good. I will probable pick up Yotsuba&! first and then try the others. Thanks for everything

Oh yeah, I think the most important thing for me when I am looking for a manga is that there is no full or really revealing nudity. The other stuff doesn't bother me as much. I hope that helps with suggestions if you give any more.

Does anybody have recommendations for Manhwa titles? I'm currently reading Goong, but I'm eager to find more stories.

Okay, I had to freak for a moment when I first read the description. I OWN the live-action drama of this manhwa!! So COOL!

Question, does it have to be manhua?

In any case, I recommend Bride of the Water God
100% Perfect Girl
The One
Can't Lose You

Princess Hours? I've just started watching it on crunchroll, don't want to spoil too much of the manhwa though, otherwise I won't read it. :red:

No, not manhua. Haven't read any manhua yet, just manga and manhwa. I've heard of BotWG and 100% Perfect Girl, but not the others. Thanks!

Oh, I'd be careful of Wallflower There is some seriously pervy stuff in that and its basically soft porn. No joke. I sold my copies because I didn't think it was suitable for a Christian ^^] Bleach is awful. Don't read it.
[/QUOTE]

That is a matter of opinion. And I am of the state of mind that one should always get their own opinion. No matter what it is. ^_^

Bleach is an good manga, though no always "clean" it has good principles, loveable characters and a great style Tite-sensei is amazing at his perspective and yes it can get confusing at times. But it is, none the less, a EPIC manga, I don't recommend the Anime.

I recommend The Queens Knight A fairly clean Period Manwha, about a kingdom that can only be entered through Germany. Yuna, the main character is a bit annoying at first, but she starts to have more principles and begins to believe in things that no selfish teenager would ever believe. She becomes a good Queen. Unfortunately, Tokyo Pop has deemed it unworthy for more American publication past Vol. 12, which irks me to no end. Its a fantastically clean and good Manwha.

Chocolat
The boys are annoying with their mean words, and sure the fangirlism is stupid. But the manwha is good, the art is amazing and the creators never cease to make you laugh. The storyline is also good.

Beauty Pop Now you wanna talk GOOD! Well, this Manga is AMAZING! The comedy is great, Kiri the heroine is not like many others and the characters though they seem like copies of Ouran bring their own ridiculous traits to the table and make them somewhat better than the Ouran Cast. ^^ Its good, clean and a great read 10 volumes in all, I re-read it all the time.

Death Note Dark, but the story is great. I really love it. The creators are geniuses like no others and also made Bakuman this is ALSO highly recommended! You can learn SO MUCH about how Manga is created and the publishing process through that manga. Granted take everything with a grain of salt, but its really good. It encourages me to become a better artist and person.

The Wallflower anime didn't have any of that stuff in it, so if Nami says that the manga isn't up to par, then I suggest watching it instead.

However, NANA, while it does have some sex in it, about about the friendship of two women. Romance does play a major factor in their lives- one by having one love of her life and the other who constantly mistakes crushes and sexual desire for love. You see how their romances affect their relationship- one way they get close is by how one of their relationships falls apart. Then she gets together with the other NANA's bandmate, but sincerely is scared about knowing whether it's love or not- which leads to a whole lot of hurt and feeling betrayed.

They aren't terrible people- they're confused and dealing with a lot. THe pressures of having former bandmates being in rival bands, falling in love with the members of rival bands, falling out of love or realizing they'd never been in love with whoever they're with.... Those sorts of things aren't very unbelievable, and that's why it's one of the most famous and popular and well-regarded manga out there.

So someone comes asking about the quality of several manga they're interested in, and when someone tells them that one of the manga is crap, that's bad? Isn't the whole point of this so we can steer them toward good manga and away from the bad?

I'll let Fish tell you why it's crap because he's better at doing that than I am.

It sounded like that the person who was asking about Bleach should have to form their own opinion rather than Fish giving his own. Sapphy asks "Is Bleach a good read?" Fish says "No, it is awful, don't read it". Then you say something along the lines of "Sapphy should have to form her own opinion rather than you giving her your own".

Ah, a perfect example of jumping to conclusions. ^_^ My dear young man, that was not in the least of what I meant it to be. Perhaps, you just read it that way. And I'm sorry you did. But I simply wanted her to know that it is good from on perspective. He said it was "awful" and I told her a different side. She can choose. ^_^

How many people like or don't like something isn't indicative of its objective quality. Whether someone likes something is their opinion. But when someone makes statements about the objective quality of something, they're expected to qualify it and back that up. Of course, whether or not someone accepts those claims and criteria is up to them, but I think we can agree there's some baseline for judging writing or art and such.

Now, you've given some reasons as to why you think Bleach is good and Fish has not done so for his claims, presumably because he's done so elsewhere on this forum tons of times and his thoughts on the subject are generally well-known. Of course, you don't have to care about why he thinks so, but to people who do, your claim that Bleach is a generally good manga is significantly weaker.

Actually, it's that I forgot I posted in here. Generally though, I've found more people want straight impressions in recommendation threads, not short novels on why I think the way I do. Still, I should say something.

So Bleach. It's pretty dreadful.

There are a lot of things I could say here to substantiate this, but for brevity's sake I'll stick with something simple and direct and absolutely not open to debate:

Everything everything everything that happens in Bleach from volume 21 until volume 43 (with the singular exception of the Turn Back the Pendulum Arc) is filler. Discounting the volumes that cover the Pendulum Arc (i.e. "One"), that makes exactly 22 volumes of Tite Kubo wasting time, which for a brief period accounted for over half the published series. The Arrancar and the Espada are all meaningless characters who die meaningless deaths and change nothing. The only feasible justification you can make for this is allowing Ichigo to grow stronger, which doesn't really improve your standing as now you're defending Tite Kubo spending over twenty volumes (and five years) focusing on level grinding, which would also be inexcusable from any serious author.

If Tite Kubo pulled this kind of stuff back when he was beginning publication, he'd have gotten canceled.

There. "Opinion" substantiated.

It was basically Bleach except it ended, making it slightly better.

I am back for manga recommendations! I have actually been reading more manga than I am watching anime, but oh well!!!

Content Specifications:
- Not too much blood and gore. I can handle some, but not over the 14+ rating. Alot of blood usually doesn't bother, just....guts is the problem, gore must be very, very low to none.
- Language must not be too excessive. Some "d" and "h" I can handle, it's just the "s" and "f" word I do not want to hear....at all.....and I prefer if God's name is not taken in vain.
- Low on sexual content, actually, I prefer none at all, maybe mild innuendo is OK, but...low in the nudity/sex department, please!!! I like my manga CLEAN!!! No yuri/yaoi PERIOD!
- No magic too closer to witchcraft. Fantasy magic is fine, just no black magic or something too close to what people actually try to practice in real life O.O

I think that's it. To get an idea of what I like, here's a list of manga I read (*this indicates I love it alot)
- *Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles
- xxxHOLiC
- *Fullmetal Alchemist
- *Dream Saga
- *Kimi Ni Todoke
- Angelic Layer
- *The World Stops!
- Heaven Bound
- *Game Plan!
- Amazing Agent Luna

Other manga I have read:
- Vampire Knight
- Higurashi: When They Cry
- *Kitchen Princess

THANK YOU!!!!

You should definitely read Yotsuba&! because it is pretty much the best manga ever, and very clean.

Also recommending Twin Spica. It's excellent. I've only read as much of it as has been released in the US; but so far, apart from language and a few mild innuendos, it has been very clean as well.
