hello! New member here! :D

Postby angelcake » Wed Jun 02, 2010 5:09 pm

Hi everyone! :brow:

I'm new here. I registered to this page about 2 days ago. I normally don't register to message boards and stuff because I don't update much. I don't even update my facebook much either. I hope I can come here and update/write as much as possible. I was surprised to find this website. I didn't know there were so many Christians that are into anime. I don't think anime is too popular where I live.

I sometimes find it hard to write about myself so here we go lol ...
My name is Andrea. I'm 23 years and I live in Miami, Fl. I love looking at Asian clothes, kawaii stuff like plushies, lolita fashion, Japanese music, etc. Unfortunately, it's hard to find stuff like that here. The main reason why I decided to join here is because I want to go to Florida Supercon this year.
I went to Florida Supercon last year for the first time. It was my first convention of anything. I really liked it. I don't really have many friends that are into anime. I wanted to know if anyone in here was going. I think it would be really cool to meet up with people who are going annnd are also Christians, which makes it even more cool haha.

I don't think anime is too popular here in South Florida. So I did go with a friend and a friend of his last year, but I don't think he's going this year. My brother wants to go, I just don't want him to see women/girls that go almost half naked lol. He's only 12 years old. But he's into comic books, star wars, and kingdom hearts and he really wants to meet some of the voice actors that will be there. So anyway, I'd really like to meet someone new that likes anime.

Besides that, I'd like to watch more anime shows and hear other people's opinions here.

I think I've been into anime since Sailor Moon came out in the U.S. I've always been a huge Sailor Moon fan. After that I didn't really watch any other anime until I saw Bleach on adult swim and a little bit of Samurai Champloo. Then I switched to Japanese language and I found it much better than the dubbed versions. I've seen most of the episodes on Bleach so far. I've also seen some other animes. I also love Miyazaki films. I have a small collection of his movies. I think Spirited Away and Whisper of the Heart are my favorites. I'd like to watch more animes that people would recommend.
I'm also into video games. I have a 360, nintendo dsi xl, super nintendo, wii, American PS2, and a Japanese PS2. I got the Japanese PS2 mainly to play Taiko Drum Master games from Japan. So yeah ... I'm pretty much a nerd haha.

I used to collect Sailor Moon dolls. I realized that I was really attached to them. I decided to sell them one day cause I needed the money. It wasn't easy letting them go, but I kept telling myself that it's only material stuff. Sailor Moon reminded me a lot of my childhood and I guess I miss that sometimes. Those dolls represented a show that was part of my childhood but I realized that I had to let them go. After all, it really stays with you and you don't need so many material things to remind you how awesome the anime was lol. So I sold most of them. I only kept the Japanese mini dolls (very kawaii)!

I've been a Christian for most of my life but I stopped going to church around the time I was in high school. But I believe that I stayed the same as a person, meaning that my morals and values pretty much stayed the same. I didn't start doing crazy things or being a bad kid with my parents or anything like that. Of course, it would have helped me a lot more if I would have had a closer relationship with God back then. So I went back to church about 4 years ago and I've been going consistently.

So I hope to get to know you all and share this awesome love we have for anime and Japanese related interests. :jump:

Hi :]
I don't really have a favorite genre. I like many types, I love romance and action. Sailor Moon was great cause it has both. I wish Bleach had a little romance in there lol. I'm still hoping for something to happen between Ichigo and Rukia haha.
Not too long ago I bought this anime movie called "The girl who leapt through time". I really loved it. It had a lot of action and romance as well. I haven't really seen that many anime shows.

Here's a small list of the ones I've seen (there's some that I haven't finished):
Bleach
Samurai Champloo
Sailor Moon
Cardcaptor Sakura
Chobits
Suzumiya Haruhi

Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli films watched:
Spirited Away
My Neighbor Totoro
The Cat Returns
Kiki's Delivery Service
Only Yesterday
Ponyo
Howl's Moving Castle
Laputa: Castle in the Sky
Pom Poko
Whisper of the Heart
Ocean Waves

I recently signed up to Netflix and I noticed that they have some anime that you can instantly watch through the xbox 360. I started watching an anime called Clannad. I really like it so far.

Nice list! All I can ever say is, if you ever get onto Hulu, Romeo x Juliet is a great watch (it's an AU of Shakepseare's story, and has some great shout-outs to the Bard!). And if you like Clannad, you might also like other works like Air (both the movie and tv series) and the series Kanon. Air, Kanon, and Clannad are all made by the same studio, and all are beautiful series!

*and don't forget to watch the second season of CLannad- Clannad Afterstory! XD

CAA ni youkoso!

Oh, I love Sailor Moon too! But a long time ago, I was getting too obsessed with spending money on it, and felt led by the Holy Spirit to sell/give away all of my merchandise (I had a LOT of assorted stuff). So I know how hard it must have been to sell your dolls. Even though don't have any of those material goods left, I still love the first two series :3 (The later seasons were...not my favorites.)

Also, I think there are at least a few more Floridians on here-- that is, if they decide to show themselves XD

That's yasumicon! XD i don't think it sucks I went to it last year there were a whole bunch of stuff. I have been dying to play in one of those foam swords tournaments. Plus there's a pretty big dealer's room. Didn't get to see any of the panels but from what I experienced it was super fun!
