New doubts

Postby Momo-P » Fri Jul 24, 2009 10:08 am

My faith has been pretty good for years. When I was fourteen or so I had that spell where you really start questioning and doubting that I think most Christians go through, but after a long time, it eventually evened out and I was fine. Very happy. Sure I had struggles, but I always was thankful my faith--the most important thing--was there.

Lately I've been having severe doubts that are bothering me heavily. It mostly started when I went to work and some girls were talking about that movie Knowing. I'd seen it and actually enjoyed it, but it led to some religious discussion and unfortunately a lady who was in the store (I work at a grocery store) overheard us and had to put her two cents in.

Needless to say, it became a situation of "I know everything the Bible states is true, however...what if it wasn't credited to God and actually was the work of something else"? She mentioned some silly theories about aliens or some rubbish. I guess her family member wrote a book on the subject or some bull, but ya...it was just like. Thanks lady. I really appreciate your input.

Needless to say, I know God is God and not some stupid aliens or whatever, but it's just irritating having this crap in my head. Especially since that's not it. There are "other" theories like, instead of aliens acting on their own, what if some other god sent the aliens to earth himself and just...ya. It's really absurd and insane stuff, but like I said, when you have people subject you to all this crap when you didn't even ask them? It's really annoying.

Plus it's one of those situations where, the more you think of it, your mind actually makes you think "this could make sense if you look at it from this angle". Yanno, basically you start believing and wondering if actually DOES make sense and if any part of it does, your mind only seems to fixate on that. You totally don't seem to focus on the stuff that disproves such ideas, so your faith gets worse and...it just sucks.

Like I said, it's so insane, but I'm sure someone can understand. If you had some lady have to come up and tell you about her brother in-laws's theories and you let yourself think about them (which most people probably would), it can end badly. I still pray to God and am even asking you to pray for me, I mean, I know He's the only one who can stop this and give me the answer I need but...man. I really wish He'd make this stop, it's getting aggravating and I don't like these thoughts. ._.

Momo, Satan uses anyone and I mean ANYONE to perform his horrible goals. He is trying to get you to doubt what God has already said in the Bible. That He is the one true God and all others are false.

This stuff about the aliens all comes from Satan. He is the father of lies and will use anything to convince someone that God isn't real and that something else did all of this.
Just consider that lady as a false prophet and go on believing in the Bible.

I know doubts come everyday in life and they can keep us from God. Don't let this happen.

One of Satan's ultimate goals is to confuse people and keep them from the truth. Don't let Satan take the truth away from you! You need to hide it in your heart.

Im praying for you.

HI Momo- I know what you are going through. I deal with the same thing. I believe in God and his word. But every now and then I cross paths with my son in law, or some other nut who ain't playing with a full deck and before I know it, I'm questioning things.
Then I feel like you are describing.

I have to shake it off and move on. It's easy to get distracted. So, you just kick up your prayer time, know He is God and his word is true. That's what I do and it straightens me out.

Lord, I pray for Momo, it's easy to get distracted in these latter days and everybody does. The Devil wouldn't be doing his job if we didn't. But it's not the distraction that defines us as Christians, but our reactions. So pour a double portion out for Momo, because she has done the right thing, and honored you.

In Jesus name, Amen

Miss Momo,

Don't be too frustrated with yourself. The feelings that you are experiencing are a normal part of the Christian. Media, ideas, and other opinions will make you question things about God. He understands. Satan understands this too, and tries to make you doubt. Talk to God about it. Have one of those sit down chats with him one idle evening. Tell Him what happened and your thoughts on the matter. Sometimes getting it out there makes you feel more certain about your religious situation and standing. I'll be praying.

Momo,

I don't know if it will help, but don't let doubt through you. God is a great big God and were just people. It makes sense were aren't going to be able to understand everything all the time with limited information on what is happening and what will. If you look in the Bible, most of the great figures had doubt. When God told Abraham to head out and not take anyone with him, he did head out, but he took his nephew with him. And pretty much nobody is a better example of doubting his way through the whole thing than Moses.

It isn't wrong to question either, it's how you sort through what's true and what isn't. Lies disguised as the truth are the hardest to bust.

Faith isn't blind, the definition is actually lore like 'belief based on evidence'. It's your own experiences. Wild speculation will not stand up to what you have experienced for yourself and what other believers have experienced that is the same. Remember what you know because you have lived it to help you get through tangles of information.

Praying for you.

Praying...

I understand that too, having doubts. I'm in a University where many professors see Christianity as a binding force to bow to the West's imperialism and a culture destroyer. But that's what we need faith for; no matter what issue Christianity faces, we should completely trust in God.

That's what it is: trusting God beyond logic, scientific reasoning, and philosophy. "We walk by faith and not by sight." Why would we reject God's ultimate love, forgiveness and salvation to human knowledge and intelligence? Many say that religion is bad because it teaches human weakness- well that's true. We are weak, but in God we are strong.

Arguing with those people will bring nothing, but I shall share to you an intelligent answer just to keep them thinking:

God can be proven logically: There is a thing as infinity- perfection, flawlessness where human mind is not able to comprehend, way beyond the level of understanding. That can only be God.

Also, everything is caused by something. A fire caused by a lighter, say, the universe caused by big bang. But who caused the Big Bang? There is a first cause that nobody caused. That can only be God.

But again, we walk by faith and not by sight. I hope I was able to help you :)
