Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Postby Phantom_Sorano » Mon Jul 20, 2009 8:53 pm

Hey everyone.

I feel so selfish by posting this, but I need some help. Some members already know some about what is going on. My parents were dead set on me not furthering my education, working the family business, and marrying the son of a family friend to bond the two families. (I'm not kinding either.) I didn't want that at all, so I left home with a few hundred dollars and a few boxes of possessions. Since then, I have been living with a older friend and her husband. Unfortunately, I am jobless...and my family has been doing very unChristian like things to mess up my future...(like taking my car, stalking, making me believe my father was dying, making my younger brother hate me with lies, having my transcripts and whatnot withheld...the list goes on.)
I really have been trying to stand on my own two feet. I have worked as a caterer/assistant for the past few years, and no one so far has liked those creditials.
Please pray that God will send me a job soon. I am going to start school soon and bills are beginning to pile up.
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!

-Soran

:( I already knew stuff was going on (I knew most of this already, actually, but never had it spelled out like this...)

Don't feel selfish. You need prayers. I ask for prayers for my own problems, and then look: I've got a great family, supportive, Christian parents (heck, my dad's even a pastor) and am blessed with so many good things...listen, God wants us to bring all requests, big or small, to Him, so don't feel guilty about it or anything!

I believe in the plan God has for you, and that through Him, you'll have strength to pull through.

Jer 29:11 (NIV) "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

:) You even have that verse in your sig! :D

I'll definitely continue praying for you!

I'm curious how it would be possible to for them (your family) to have your transcripts withheld. The car I can understand (if, of course, it was registered under their name and not your's), but yeah. Is there a way you can request your transcripts to be sent to the address you are staying at with your friend (so you can send to them schools after that on your own) or even have them sent electronically to the schools from your previous school?

And I hear you on difficulty finding a job. You do seem to have a start in job experience though, which increases your chances at finding a job quicker than the rest of us with no experience. Have you looked around at catering companies? Apply wherever you can.

I'll keep you in my prayers, Soran.

I didn't believe it was possible either. I found out when I went to the college and they did not have the information that I had already filled out papers to have sent to them. I started to do some digging of my own and found out that she had talked to my old school and now I cannot seem to get my information. I plan on going tomorrow to pay them a little visit. What is worse is that she has contacted a good number of my close connections, and I haven't seen or spoken to anyone for almost two months....the only friends I have contact with are the awesome members of the CAA.
Oy....I don't really know what to think anymore...but I am very appreciative of everyone. Thank you all so very much!

Let me start off by saying I can sympathize. Both my mom and my dad's family is also split down the middle, due to my father's lifestyle all these years. It feels like one has to take sides in an ongoing battle. I was also in the jobless boat earlier this year. I fell into a deep depression that I felt would never end. Thankfully God provided me with a fantastic job that I started 3 months ago.

I am sure that He will provide you with an outcome when the time is right. Just hang in there, I know it's tough. I will be praying for you as well.

God bless

It is not selfish of you. As I have said, you have a heavy cross that is probably breaking your back. I pray that God will send an angel to help you carry it. You are not helpless if you have friends. Plus, remember that you are a daughter of God. God never forsakes those who turn to Him.

Thank you so much guys.....
Gosh I feel like a dork...I'm actually getting misty-eyed.

I say my doctor today. He has coined me "estranged"; which is a nice term of saying I'm in the long haul by myself with no help or support from my family. It doesn't bother me much concerning my parents, half-siblings, etc....but it does bother me concerning my younger brother, Winchester13. He doesn't get on this site anymore, and I had to block him because other members of my family had reset his account and were using it along with another one I found out about. It is frustrating to post this and know that there is a large possibility that they will turn this in my face.
I keep looking to God for answers...but it seems in vain. I ran out of the store today because I saw a family member. I feel like I'm being stalked and that I am weak for letting that bother me like that. I need some "motsy".
Thank you all so much again for everything.....you all are truely great people and pals.

Lord, I want to stop and say a prayer for my friend Sorano. She is your daughter and your word says that you will never see the righteous forsaken nor your seed begging for bread. Take her into your arms and surround her. Place her in the position of finding a job, a home, a change of life style, and direction for her life. Hold back all those who suppress her. Grant her your security. Your strength. Wisdom and knowledge. Your word says that when we seek the secret place of the most high we will abide in the shadow of the almighty. She has obeyed your word, sought the prayers of the church (church means a gathering of people, which is what CAA is.)

Answer her prayers, hear her call and cries to you. Send forth your angels to watch after her. And give her peace and comfort, through your holy spirit. Provide her the protection she needs with your mighty hand.

In Jesus name...

Amen

P.S. Please keep your Jeremiah 29:11 signature up. To remind you of God's promise to deliver you, and to encourage me becase it gives me so much guidence.

...It's time like these where I really wish I knew people in real life. Then I could give you a huge hug, like a real one, and tell you in a way that you can actually hear me that you're special and definitely not alone...

God loves you so much more than anything.

I just went and found a Bible. I flipped it open randomly...here is the first passage I looked at there.

Psalm 140 (NIV)

1 Rescue me, O Lord, from evil men; protect me from men of violence,

2 who devise evil plans in their hearts and stir up ward every day.

3 They make their tongues as sharp as a serpent’s; the poison of vipers is on their lips.

4 Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; protect me from men of violence who plan to trip my feet.

5 Proud men have hidden a snare for me; they have spread out the cords of their net and have set traps for me along my path.

6 O Lord, I say to you, “You are my God.” Hear, O Lord, my cry for mercy.

7 O Sovereign Lord, my strong deliverer, who shields my head in the day of battle—

8 do not grant the wicked their desires, O Lord; do not let their plans succeed, or they will become proud.

9 Let the heads of those who surround me be covered with the trouble their lips have caused.

10 Let burning coals fall upon them; may they be thrown into the fire, into miry pits, never to rise.

11 Let slanderers not be established in the land; may disaster hunt down men of violence.

12 I know that the Lord secures justice for the poor and upholds the cause of the needy.

13 Surely the righteous will praise your name and the upright will live before you.

There it is. I don't know if this will help, but I felt God pulling me to open up a Bible and give you what I found...I like the Psalms...Still...yeah...anyways, still praying for you!

Thank you so much, Mr. Paul.

Well....I have some good news to report. I finally got a portion of my college paperwork filled out for my FAFSA. A letter from my doctor got it through. Hopefully when that goes through the system, my scholarship money will come in aswell.
I'm still hunting for a job, and not giving up. "For everything there is a season and a time and purpose under the Heavens." I hope my season is coming up. Thank you guys so much! I really appreciate everything!

Thank you all so much....I wanted to let you know that your prayers are starting to help.

After weeks of battling with paperwork to get registered for college, I finally got to pick my classes yesterday. I feel releaved more than anything...that and I hope I'll be okay since I haven't been in school for awhile.
My money situation is still rough....I have none and I'll need to play my fees soon. Hopefully a job will come into play aswell.

Thanks again everyone...I don't know what I'd do without your support!

I'm so happy things are working for you, because what the heck your parents are being total jerks with no respect for their daughter. I can't believe they'd act like this towards you. If you're a legal adult you are in no way obligated to really listen to them.

Which honestly, makes it hard to really "respect your parents". To what degree does respect turn into "blind obedience"? That's another topic, though.

In any way, I'm glad you were able to successfully remove yourself from their grips. I wonder if there is anything you can do in regards of social services. But I'm not sure, since you're likely a legal adult...

Soran,

I read about this earlier, but since I didn't think it was my place to say anything to you, especially with a problem this severe, I kept silent, and only prayed. Praise the Lord for providing you with what you need. It wasn't us for praying that got you the job, but it was God, who answered our prayers. May this be a glorious testimony to the wonders of His goodness.
