Why Do Ppl Call Jesus God?

Postby foolishbunny » Sun May 31, 2009 1:44 pm

JEHOVA= GOD (THE MASTER)
JESUS = THE MESSIAH THE CHRIST (came to represent GOD)
HOLY SPIRIT = THE HOLY GHOST

WHY DO PPL CALL JESUS GOD?
HE CAME TO REPRESENT HIM?
NOT TO BE WORSHIPPED.
HE NEVER SAID "whorship me"
thank JESUS sure thank him for dying for our sins but he didn't say whorship him.

because he's part of the trinity. Jesus is the WORD OF GOD Made flesh. And he does say he's God:
"Before Abraham came to be, I am."
That's a reference to the burning bush.
There's your proof!
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. I appointed you to be a prophet of all nations."
--Jeremiah 1:5

Jesus said "I and the Father are one." Therefore, Jesus is God the same as God the Father. John 1 refers to Jesus as "the Word," ("and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us"), and says in the first verse that "in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." This is the foundation for the Christian concept of the Trinity.

In other words, Christians call Jesus God because He is. Seek out the book Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis - it's an easy and engaging read, and Lewis addresses the Trinity rather well as I recall.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I will take this opportunity to remind you all that theological debate is generally not permitted here and that the specific matter of the trinity has not been left ambiguous by the forum rules. Further ruminations on this subject shall be conducted elsewhere.
