Family hurting

Postby chelle0227 » Wed May 13, 2009 10:08 pm

This is hard for me to write and explain, but i need prayer for my family and me. On May 7, 2009 my father died and me and my mom are hurting. I never really had a great relationship with my father, but it still hurts to have him gone.
About 2 weeks before his death he had complained about his back hurting and we didn't think anything of it, until it got to the point where he could hardly walk and we took him to the hospital then the next day they did surgery to remove a cancerous tumor that was wrapped around his spinal cord.
he started radiation as any one would but it wasn't helping, he couldn't walk still even with the physical therapy. they performed another MRI and found out that the cancer had spread through his lungs, other bones and his brain. There was nothing they could do because it spread so quick.
It's hard to be the only person with in my area that knows what it's like to lose their father at the age of 16. I question god on why i only got 16 years when most other people get about 30-40.
We could really use some prayers and maybe some advice from any one who understands and can possibly answer my question. thanks
Footprints in the sand by Carolyn Joyce Carty

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the lord.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of foot prints in the sand: one belonging to him the other to the lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the foot prints in the sand.

He noticed that name times along the path of his life there was only one set o footprints.

He also noticed that it was at the lowest and saddest times of his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the lord about it:

"lord, you said once i decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But i have noticed during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of foot prints. I dont understand why when i needed you most you would leave me."

The lord replied:

"My son, my precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that i carried you."

The closest I've been to a situation like this was when my good friend's father died back in January three days before her 19th birthday. It was very sudden and unexpected. She didn't exactly have the best relationship with him either because he had a lot of issues, and I never felt all that close to him but I do miss him more than I thought I would. He was one of those people who I grew up around, so it's very strange not having him around.

When I was at my friend's house they day they discovered him (he died in the basement), I heard her aunt, who had also lost her father at a young age, say that it never gets better and you never really understand why, but that it's important to remember that God has His plans all figured out. I think it's comforting to know that when things like this happen, there's someone who knows what's going on even when we don't. That's the kind of strength God provides. Though you probably won't know why your father died so early, God will give you comfort and He will provide. The situation with my friend is a lot worse than it should be. Her father's side of the family can only be described with words not appropriate for this site. Because of them, my friend and her mother are having great financial struggles, yet even in this time of uncertainty they are relying on God and even though they're taking it month by month they are still getting by. God is using the government, people in their neighborhood, friends, and family to help them and for that they are very thankful.

Remember that God does not abandon us, even we think He has. I'll be praying for you and your family.

Praying for you.

Your Heavenly Father will always be there for you, even when it doesn't feel like it.

Hang in there.
