Best Superbowl 2009 Ad

Postby rocklobster » Mon Feb 02, 2009 4:44 am

Which ad did you like best?
I'm going for:
The Transformers 2 ad
The Up ad
The commercial where the horse leaped over the canyon
The Coke commercial where the kid gave the player the coke and got tackled. Great homage.

This was about the weakest attempt at Super Bowl commercials.....but my favorite was probably the one where the guy punched the koala, just because it was weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeird.

My vote's for that one too. I don't remember what it was for, all I remember is a koala with glasses and somebody punched it in the face.

Agreed...most of these commercials were pretty disappointing compared to previous years....with the exception of:

The Transformers 2 trailer,
E-Trade babies,
Crystal ball Doritoes,
and, of course, the Budweiser Clydesdale ones....While not funny they always put a smile on ur face and a warm feeling in ur heart...

J.J. Abrams, you mean.

Or Transformers.

What planet are you people living on?

The Up trailer was obviously the best.

I also liked that commercial where the guy was sitting under a moose and the caption read, "Need a new job?"

I was talking about the flashy Transformers trailer. I'm fully aware J.J. Abrams has his fault but I don't know much about his work so I can't tell from first hand experience.

Doritoes
Budweiser Clydesdales
High Life (It was only a second long, but I thought it was funny.)
Career Builder (Okay you have to admit through the repetitiveness of the commercial that it was somewhat funny.)
Coke commercial (Oh man so funny. "You can steal our commercial, but not our taste!" Or something like that.)

The Teleflora commercial was the best.

"NOBODY WANTS TO SEE YOU NAKED."

"I'd like to see y-"

"GARY."

My vote goes to the careerbuilder.com commercial (the koala commercial mentioned before).

Star Trek and Transformers as far as the movie ones go.

Then the only one I really actually laughed out loud at was the Free Doritos one with the two guys and the "crystal ball". I just wasn't expecting that one. The rest got a snicker out of me at best. If the moose had farted or taken a dump on the guys head, it would be my favorite hands down but... nothing really funny happened with that one.

Mine is probably Hyundai's...the CEO's reactions and the part where "suddenly everyone gets your name right" was pretty funny :).

I also liked the Bridgestone ad...

Yeah, except you only pronounce it like Sunday if you are trying to Americanize it in order to fool American car buyers. (I am not an expert on Korean or the way in which Korean words are written and pronounced using Roman letters, but I have always pronounced it like Hyoondai. oo as in moon and dai as in daisho. I would love to know how it's supposed to be pronounced. Wikipedia tells me something ridiculous.)

As far as movies go:
Star Trek
Up
and did anyone see the G.I.JOE commercial before the superbowl?

I don't know why people fuss over the Superbowl so much.
And why would anyone punch a koala in the face?

The superbowl is one of those puzzling mysteries I'll never figure out myself personally. Biggest day for TV... why?

I never liked football so I dunno.

And I want to squeeze a koala... they're just so gosh darn cute I just wanna hug em till it's head pops off.

I saw the GI Joe trailer. Looks great to me. Of course, I grew up on GI Joes.

Well. Liking football is probably prerequisite to understanding the significance of the day. ;)

Allow me to give a few reasons:
1. Professional football is the most popular spectator sport in America. Baseball will likely always be “America’s Pastimeâ€

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Sobe ad yet.

I termyt explained it perfectly. Honestly untill I read your post(I mean I new it was an important game.) I didn't completely understand the significance of the day.

But yeah it's not significant as in something that has happened, but something that is going to happen. It's pretty much just a culmination of the entire NFL season into one decisive game as termyt said.
