By the way, cast pictures are the second link on the main page. They got some pretty good matches!

I went through them and I was stunned at what kind of facial matches they were able to get. I hope the actors are up to their roles, though. Hopefully facial matches weren't the only criteria.

Heh, the trailer makes me think that maaaaybe Friend doesn't really translate well into live action. It just looks kind of silly.

(wait, did I just complain that FRIEND looked silly? o_O)

I love this poster though, with kid!Kenji standing in the middle. I want that on my wallll...

I will kind of agree with that. XD They need to work on his mask a bit more, maybe. XD However,
The guy they got to play Fukubei makes up for it. XD He looks JUST like him. xD
ha ha. i happened to start a thread for the older 20th CB trailer, if you can even call that a trailer. though discussion did not ensue. this new trailer is rather unique but i found it even cooler to see the actors who will be playing the characters. i am eagerly awaiting the release of this film. april 30th huh? 'tis going to be quite interesting.

Well, April 30th in Japan, anyways. D: We probably won't see anything state-side until it's released on DVD over there and someone chooses to sub it. Still, I'm really looking forward to seeing more about it. XD This will apparently be a trilogy, so I'm guessing the first film will cover the events up to and including the Bloody New Year's Eve of 2000, the next film will cover Kanna, the Pope's visit, and Tomodachi Land, and the final film will cover the 3rd Year of Friend. Just guessing, of course, but it seems to be the most logical way to split it up. Regardless, I'm just really excited to see it, and I hope it gets here soon. XD

And the theatrical cut.

Mixed emotions here. But what it lacks in cinematic shoe polish, it excuses by being incredibly faithful to the source material. Yay!

Oh my GOSH.

I'm so excited now. XDD The fact that I can recognize each character (and scene) without subtitles is EPIC--they did a REALLY good job with casting. The children especially look like their manga counterparts, and gldkjgladkjg OTCHO.

Admittedly, the film quality could be better, but this is going to be AWESOME. XD

Lol, I was about to say the same thing ^^ I've been hearing great things about 20th Century Boys ^^

I feel so dumb, because.. I didn't know "Friend" was an actual character >_> I just thought that was what someone referred to as their "friend" who was wearing one of the mask xD;

I confess I'm somewhat skeptical at how well-paced this will be, given that the second arc is over twice as long as the first.

Anyone know how well the first one did, or how good of an adaptation it was?

I'm assuming the movies are a lot more compact and compartmentalized then the Manga, though you do some things differently in film anyway, so I'll reserve commentary till I've actually seen them.

That trailer is pretty rocking though.

I'm so confused. I think I'll have to read the manga to understand.
This is based on a manga by the artist/author of Monster, isn't it?
