Yume Nikki (If you thought Katamari Damacy was trippy...)

Have a video game or or VG review? This is the place to to discuss it! We also accept discussions of board games and the like, but SHHH! Don't tell anyone, OK?

A few years ago, there was an indie developed game by an individual Japanese programmer. He used an RPG engine as a guidepost.

The game? Basically, you play as a girl. Who does to bed and explores, well, her dreams. Bizarre dreams. Earthbound combined with Cat Soup types of dreams. In these dreams you can collect a total of 25 effects that do different things to you. Some needed to "progress" to other dreams and others simply for aesthetics. There's no dialogue, no help system, no guides. Just you and the exploration of a number of different dreams and 25 effects to collect.

Of course, here are a few vids for the intrigued.

And a link to download an English translation of the game.

You'll need a RAR extractor to extract the files from the download to play the game. jZip is the best program to use for Windows.

And with that, I leave a reward to the first person who can find the Earthbound 0 dream.

This does have a Mother 2 and 3 feel to it. It looks pretty fun. :)

That's an RPG maker game... Most likely 2000. I can tell by the background which is stock with RPG Maker 2000. Unless newer versions of RPG maker allow for selling the game, it's not commercial.

It MAY be RPG Maker XP, which allows for some Ruby programming to add new features that aren't possible with the original engine (sacrificing many of the built in features of 2000 / 2003 in the process) but I've never heard of an RPG Maker game being sold legally.
