Trinity Blood: Opinions, Please?

Postby Hana Ryuuzaki » Fri Mar 28, 2008 6:53 pm

So, this new craze has gone over the few anime watchers in my school.

It's called "Trinity Blood".

Now, I've never heard of this before, and was wondering what it's storyline was, and what warnings there are about it.

Yeah, yeah, I know it's about vampires, and something about a priest, but that's about it.

Could anyone help, bitte?

A war rages between the vampires and the humans. To protect humans from vampires, the Vatican relys on other allies to counter the situation.

The Vatican's representative is a priest name Peter Abel Nightroad, Which is a Crusnik, a vampire with extraordinary powers that can feed on other vampires.

he also a member of the "Ax". A special operations group controlled by the Cardinal Catherina.

Trinity Blood anime is base off the Japanese light novels of the same name written by Sunao Yoshida, who died of a lung blockage after announcing that his novels would be adapted into an anime series.

After Yoshida's untimely death, Kentaro Yasui, stepped in to complete the remaining novels and the manga series.

I'm not fully sure on this, but do to Yoshida death is the reason why the anime doesn't really have an ending to it.

IMO, The series started out fine and then ended in failure.

It did and that's why I didn't like it in the end.

One thing for sure, I did like the soundtrack and the opening theme song.

I thought it was good, but I missed the ending

You've gotten some good summaries, so the main thing I can add is in regard to warnings: there is a fair amount of blood, little language, and little sexual content.

Personally, the series interested me but I was ultimately disappointed. The plot has the stylish/mysterious elements but they don't really go anywhere and things get sidetracked more than once. As others have mentioned, the ending is poor. Also, you can get the main plot elements by fusing Hellsing and Trigun. That isn't condemning by itself, but the story doesn't really stand out or say anything new.

Since I didn't want to create a new thread in case one was already in existence.. I get to ressurect a thread!!! *jumps for joy*

I've just watched the first 7 episodes in English dub. I thought that the series is pretty good. My main question to those who have seen Trinity Blood is however, what do you guys think of the religious themes in the series? Father Abel Nightrod constantly says things that sound almost kinda Christian.

(aka we are all children of God)...and then Sister...(the name has escaped me but she has black hair and is rather...well-endowed...O.o) has the ability to see people's emotional auras. This is actually a spiritual gift from God found in real life, *I have a friend who actually has this...you don't have to believe me but it's true* so anyway wondering what you guys think...

That's nice sharien chan, lol but when I asked for your opinion, I meant about the religious aspects of the series. Sorry if that wasn't clear

It was fine to me, I didn't have a feeling of like or dislike that they use Christian themes in it, but it didn't save it from the bad ending.

Oh I know...I just wanted to comment. I should have added that I had no idea what was going on because I wasn't Christian at the time, and it was just confusing.
My boyfriend who is a strong Christian didn't like it...too...oh I forget the word he used. It didn't sit right with him.

My word for the religious content would be "insignificant." Toward the beginning Abel sounds slightly religious, but these themes don't go anywhere and I'd say this is another case of Japan using Christianity as a system of mysticism.

I could never get into it, but then again I thought it was way to similar to Hellsing which came first. I tried to watch it anyway, but it just wouldn't stick with me.

When it comes to religions in anime and movies, i ignore it. I mostly look to the characters and their stories. I liked the story line and the manga is quite interesting.
