Surgery To Remove Cyst In Throat

Postby mitsuki lover » Thu Sep 14, 2006 11:15 am

I'm going to have to go into Spokane on October 2 to the Ears,Nose & Throat clinic to have surgery to remove a cyst in my throat.I didn't mention this earlier because I wasn't certain of the time and place. It will be done at the clinic instead of in hospital because the insurance people consider it to be out-patient rather than in-patient so the deductible for it would be the same regardless, but the clinic would be cheaper and the doctor wouldn't have to go to the hospital to do it are the main reasons. Then the following Tuesday, the 10th I will be having the follow-up at the same place.

Well I hardly can tell that it's there but it is rather large which is why we need to have it removed.
The letter with the instructions came today and basically I have to or someone in the family has to call up the clinic between 1-3 p.m. the Friday before the surgery
for the arrival time.
The rest of the information is basic what to bring, what not to do,etc.
From the sounds of it I'll probably be out of it for the rest of the day after surgery and recovery.

Lifting you up, bro. Let us know how it goes.
Theme Scripture: Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)

And a verse for all us single folks: Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? (1 Corinthians 9:5)

Ok,well I have to call up tommorrow between 1 and 3 to get the exact time.
Also I have to wear a button or zip up shirt because they don't know how large the bandage will be.Hopefully the operation will be early enough so that I can get back and spend the rest of the day recuperating at home. However this means I won't be on Monday at all.
The one bad thing the nurse told me over the phone that depending on what happens I may have to stay overnight at the hospital, which I do not want to do or have happen(hospital food is enough to make anyone sick).
So hoping I will be back home afterwards.

Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts. The surgery went smoothly and I was able to come home that afternoon. The only thing now is my throat is a bit sore and I find it hard to swallow. On the bright side the swelling is going down.Though the hardest thing is simply sleeping.I found it hard to find a good position to sleep yesterday and every few minutes I had to sit up in order to swallow, but other than that I am feeling ok.
The next thing I have to do is go back on Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. for the follow up.

Yes, I'm glad to hear everything went okay! Must be tough with the swallowing thing though. Hmmm.

How do cysts grow on the body?

I doubt this is how all cysts form, but I had one from foreign material getting under the skin. It gets infected and the body creates a small cyst cavity around it. If the infection persists and the contents can't drain, they usually continue to grow in size and must be surgically removed.

Hey ML, I've got an idea on how to sleep. Try to prop yourself up in a sitting position using some pillows (they have ones that are designed to keep you in an upright position). I slept that way for about a day or two after oral surgery. Should help.
