It's not really something any personal user would have a use for, at least in the near term. Maybe multimedia developers, I dunno. For serious scientific purposes, one can get much better anyways.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

> But Apple's G5 can only hold 500gb of storage while MachI can hold 2 tetrabytes of internal storage

That doesn't equate to total addressable storage, merely what fits in the case (and nothing says that SATA drives will remain fixed at 250GB a pop, so I predict the 500GB ceiling will rise as larger capacity SATA drives become available).

Well, I have "only" 120GB in this dual G4, and the G4/500 I'll be setting up as the apartment network backup system will probably have either 0.25TB or 0.5TB total storage (and I'm just a "little" home network). I would imagine there would be some larger operations that will want terabyte capacity in a workstation or a single server, although I guess they could get an Xserve RAID for that. :)
