The Purevolume Thread

Postby Tommy » Sat Aug 26, 2006 10:26 am

To rival the recent Myspace band thread, I have decided to start this thread up.

Post Purevolume links to bands you've been listening alot to there recently.

Here's mine:

http://www.purevolume.com/demonhunter (Great band. One of my Faves).

http://www.purevolume.com/livingsacrifice (The hardest Christian band I've heard.)

http://www.purevolume.com/escapethefate (Their song "There is no Symphanthy for the Dead: is one of my all time faves. They sound like a Hard Fall Out Boy. Beware, the lyrics to one of the songs they wrote in which I don't like titled "Situations" is highly suggestive. Other lyrics are very dark as well, but their instrumentals are worth the listen.)

Oh, good! MySpace is blocked by my filter, so it's nice to see a thread I can participate in...XD

Gretchen ('Rock/Metal/Alternative' (taking the genre discription from the page XD))--they're a Christian band I first heard on ChristianRock.net. They're not my FAVORITE band--but they've got a fun style. ^^

Flyleaf (Rock/Alternative) Another Christian band. I found out about them on Pandora, but my local Christian radio station plays them, too (as well as ChristianRock.net). Their lyrics do a good job of being 'dark' without dodging around the subject of Jesus.

Skillet (Rock/Alternative) They're my favorite band, it's obligatory.

Within Temptation ('Metal'--I've heard them discribed as 'Symphonic Metal'. Take that with a grain of salt, I'm horrible with genres!) Another great band I discovered on Pandora. I should warn you, they are NOT Christian, and some of their songs have some pretty weird theology. Besides that, though, they're pretty clean, and they've got a great, dramatic sound.

...I, uh, like rock bands with female vocalists. XD
