Vampires

Talk about anything in here.

You know, I think Interview with a Vampire (the movie, not read the book) had a BRILLIANT reprsentation of vampires in it. And whats more it wasn't just a non sensical killing-blood-fest. It was quite a deep, dark film. (Plus Brad Pitt was in it and hes a great actor)

i dont particularly care for the whole Vampires can be good thing. I understand the interesting conscepts that can be used with salvation, but really vamps drink blood and murder constantly, evan if they dont like it their not doing good. hence evil.
My favorite version of a mystical vampire if you will, has to be from the world of buffy the vampire slayer and its spinoffs. The vampire sires somebody, the person dies, his or her soul goes where its going. and a demon takes over the body. makes perfect sence to me. after all if you die..... wich is what undeath really is. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
Though i like the seporate species that cant sire people teh best, its the most believable. and believablility makes something more scary.

Feh. Drinking blood does not a vampire make. When I bleed I drink it- might as well get it back into my own system. Some people think this is horribly disgusting, but I really don't care.

Besides, I'd never want to be a vampire as popularly described. Perhaps some sideline twists, but never the most basic. This is even setting Christianity aside, which clinches the matter (as if this was actually a choice I had to make...).

Blood has always been a bit to salty for my taste.

Vampires aren't real, so it shouldn't really matter, should it?

I dislike the taste of blood, and I don't think I would ever want to intentionally drink it. If I want to get the nutrients back into my system, I'll go have a snack, thankyou very much!

Why yes, I can honestly say I don't want to be cheese...

In all seriousness, you make the necessary point. Hopefully our interest in such myths and legends is constantly keeping in mind that we still live in a Christian reality. A follower of Christ is what I am, and it is what I hope I remain for all my ordinary, mortal life.

Hmm... that can be arranged. It probably merits discussion. Outside of a natural disaster of some kind, I'll start one in a few minutes. That's a good idea. Personally, I already have a few ideas on the subject.

I find the concept of vampires interesting, and I am currently writing a strot about one. My cousin wrote one too and hers is really good. I am trying to incorporate some Chritistianity int mine though. The thing I don't like about vampires is that they have such an evil association with them . . . I mean they are monsters, but I guess I just have some weird curiousity about them that I just like them. . . I dunno, they seem less threating than other monsters . . . I find I like all sorts of myths and legends in general becuase they are interesting.:)

I have always been fascinated by vampires, ever since I knew what they were. I think it might be the pointy teeth... I don't know. Sometimes you can't describe why you like something.

As for vampire stories in and of themselves, they kind of freak me out. I like Vampire anime, though. Vampire Hunter D (haven't seen Bloodlust yet) is cool stuff, and Hellsing ROCKED. I also like the vampire fanfiction you can find in almost any anime fandom (when it is written well).

I like the idea of a vampire struggling to regain their humanity and/or find redemption. I'm working on a fan fiction crossover that involves two of the main characters becoming vampires, and their effort to regain their humanity. They refuse to drink blood, but are eventually forced to when their friends offer some up willingly in order for keep them alive until they can find a solution.

Lastly, I'd be lying if I denied the fact that there are times I've wanted to be a vampire. If I could be one creature from a horror movie, it would definitely be a vampire. It would be intersting to see what a Christian Vampire would be like.

As for something I'd change about the legends, I wish a lot of the sexual refrences would be taken out. Those freak me out the most.

I have canines long and pointy enough that I've never needed fake ones to do a Dracula impersonation. Fortunately, you don't see them unless I really bare them, and I usually tend to disguise myself as a doctor rather than a blood-sucking mythological figure. (Well, my patients maybe *would* say a doctor is a blood-sucking mythological figure, but the lab actually does the biting.)
