I just found the most awsome series of books! They are by a lady named Naomi Novik.
She writes an alternate history of Britain and France during the Napoleonic conflicts. The main thing that is different is that both sides have an "air force" composed of different species of dragons. The books are quite well written.
I just finished the first one, His Majesty's Dragon (or Temeraire for those among us who live in the UK) and it was awsome!

Oh, this series. yes, they are good books, and I particularly enjoy the scientific journals after the stories.

I think the third is my favorite so far.

I just recently learned about the movies, although I haven't read the books yet. They sound REALLY cool, though, I'll definately have to check the books out.
