Slow site

Postby YesIExist » Thu Jan 29, 2004 10:08 pm

I have visited this site on broadband, and it is still kinda slow. I am not downloading anything concurrently with the pages being loaded.

Also, it seems that I will occasionally get a "page cannot be displayed" error.

Just making u aware.

Still, good site.

Is this happening at any certain time of the day? Specifically, at about midnight Central time? o_O;

There are discussions going on in the Sooper Sekrit Mod3r4at0r Forum(tm)(c) about this. Basically, this computer is shared amongst several other web sites and has to contend for CPU and network resources with those, and it crumples under high load. We're looking into a few things, including dedicated server options, and how to set that up.

But until that time I guess the saying is true...Good things come to those who wait. It's worth the little bit of patience to get here.

Well, I was on a Counter-Strike server, and somebody blamed the server for causing lag and the admin screamed back, "THE SERVER IS OPTICAL! THE LAG IS IN YOUR END!"

Is that true?

What the heck is an optical server? o_O

I don't think the Midnight Downtime is a problem with individuals' systems, since it happens at the same time every night....
