Man, I hate having to be gone for such long periods of time. For April 1st I fasted from wearing my watch. I sure prayed a lot! On the 15th I just did a regular food fast. It was unusual, though. Normally when I fast I get hungry around meal times, but this time I wasn't hungry in the slightest all day. The strange sensation of not being hungry all day was enough to remind me to pray a lot.

Fasting from wearing a watch... What a brilliant idea, especially if it happens to be during church ( ), school, or work.

I fasted today to pray for a friend of mine who is struggling with bad nightmares, which have come and gone for a long time. I also gave her some scriptures from Psalms and a CD which I thought might have some encouraging songs

Brett: "Doesn't matter. It's going to change anyway."

How is she doing?

Regretably, I was unable to fast on the first, and have yet to make that up...

Unregretably, God saved my life just last Friday. After school I always lean against a certain tree to wait for my ride. For some reason on that day I just stood by the tree instead. I stood around for a while watching some people play tennis, when eventually my eyes wandered to the trunk of the tree. About neck level there was a large, sharp shard of glass protruding one to two inches from the trunk. I have no idea how it got there. Had I blindly leaned against the tree that would have gone right into my spinal chord. I carefully took the glass out and buried it, thanking God for watching out for me.

Oh my! that's awesome that God kept you safe. Well, she seems to be doing much better. I plan on fasting and praying for her tomorrow again. I'm gonna try to make praying for her a big part of my quiet time each day, until she can get past this, (which may be a while) she said she's really learning to have faith and to rely on God for strength, and that's what I'm praying God will give her more help on.

once more, i must praise God for keeping you from getting stabbed with that thing.

I had a good fast. It is interesting that, once again, I was not even hungry all day. How did everyone else fare?

Well, I am doing a lot better at praying for and supporting (via PM) folks on the Prayer List (thanks Rogie!). However, the fast thing seems to frequently escape me. Of course, I did get my arm infected and am on an antibiotic. I think taking pill after pill with no food would be a bad idea. Not that I thought about that, mind you, I just forgot to fast :(

I fasted from internet where I could (since I have online classes, I can't fast from the whole thing). However, I think I want to fast from food again. I'm not sure why, but it seems more meaningful to me, personally.

That's understandable. Since food is such a need and pleasure(sometimes) to us, it is probably one of the more meaningful items to give up.

I'm still praying for my friend who's still having nightmares, I plan to stick to a regular devotion and prayer time over the summer.

I will have to do the fast at a later date also, because last week and this week I have international company.

We (SP1, Celestra, Raven and that other one) are all back from driving about 4000 miles! Everything looks good at home. The ants didn't take over in our absence...

Based on my daily intake of driving munchies, fasting will be in order on the first of July.

Note that Rogie has ceased posting to the Prayer List thread as of a couple of weeks ago, if you had been using this. So, we are on our own now!

Sounds like he's really busy and can't get on to CAA as much as is necessary (basically daily) to keep the list updated.

Well, I suppose I didn't fast, but I did make it through the 25+ entries in the prayer list that were backlogged since I last worked it. A lot of these were hard. It took hours. That's OK, it's the right thing to do. I'll tell you, though, if you ever think your life has got problems, just look at the prayer forum to get a new perspective. Out of a CAA population of about 4000, that is a pretty high "issues" density.

What ever happened to Talame? I know Mave is out until August, but that last we heard from Talame it was 12/1/05 and she was only going to be gone a few weeks.

I have been wondering the same thing. My computer says that her last activity on CAA was 12-01-2005.

I fasted from food, and that went really well.

Hey Guardians! Post something in here already. It's like Anna Mae and me are by ourselves. That might be viewed by some as unseemly, so get back in here. Taking summer off is no excuse, you know you're still praying, right?

God is actually answering prayer by the bucketloads for me. Without going into detail, he has really gone before me and made great victories for me in relationships and stuff. Unfortunately, I haven't been fasting. With work, it's important that I keep up my strength or else it would become very dangerous. Perhaps I should take one of my days off to fast, even though it won't be with you guys. God wants to do more than we could ask or imagine... He helps us through the tough times and blesses us in the long run. He's SO good.

Hey, if your relationship with God is working great, don't feel you have to fast just because. Stick with what is working!

fasting doesn't have to be a scheduled thing, that's for sure. I fast usually when someone really needs some strong prayer, then I make the decision and stick with it. I often don't do the prayer guardian's scheduled fast days.

Where did Anna Mae go? She was, like, really a staple on the prayer list. Now it's been over two weeks and no word. First Talame, now Anna Mae. Am I running them off? AHH! Now I have guilt!

No worries, as far as I know, you haven't done anything to run them off. Sometimes life happens and you can't get on CAA and stuff. I know I haven't been around as much as I would like to be, but I do what I can. Thanks for being faithful in this! :thumb:
