Good job, roadoffew. Also, I would suggest steering away from myspace.com for a while. Those ads aren't always pretty.

I've been failing miserably. I need serious prayer. I'm having trouble even putting up my defenses or keeping my mind on God. It isn't the devil that is the cause of this but my own selfishness. I need all the advice and prayer you can give me.

Lifting you up, bro. I think the way the devil often battles us is that he tempts us and gets us to sin, then he sends in all these thoughts of condemnation, so it's sort of a 2-level attack. One thing to remember: Conviction--knowing that you have sinned and need to ask for forgiveness, trusting God will forgive you--is from the Holy Spirit. Condemnation--feelings of guilt after you've already asked for forgiveness and that trusting Christ isn't enough for your sins to be forgiven--is from Satan.

I'm not at all saying that continuing in sin is ok, but that there is forgiveness and we've not lost out with God when we do stumble. I'd recommend reading 2 Corinthians 7:9-11 where Paul writes about the difference between worldly sorrow and Godly sorrow. Although we're not told a lot about what sin had been committed that Paul is referring to, it seems that they were anxious to live a life that showed they had been forgiven, not content to sit enduring feelings of condemnation.

Hopefully this is of some help. If you need to talk to someone, my PM box is open.

I guess I should update you on my condition. Well I'm been good some times and bad the other times. I finally figured out that my biggest problem is I didn't know God. Yeah I've prayed the prayer before and all, but I have almost no prayer life and all I do is listen to christian music and go to church on wednesdays. I rarely even craked open the old holy bible. It finally dawn on me just the other day that maybe the reason I go into a mindset of porn and not a mindset of God is because I never had a real relationship.

I've been working on a reading plan and have started praying more. Keep me in your prayers for I know the devil is going to probally start attacking more harshly than he has before. I love you guys to death. God bless all of you.

I will pray for you, I make mistakes like looking at porn and doing the "M" word as well. Here is what I will pray: Dear Lord I pray that roadoffew would figure out what it is that he needs to do to get away from temptation and that he would do that, and that when temptation strikes at him, that you would keep him safe from it, and that the devil would not be powerful against him. I pray also that when he does fall, (because everybody falls) that he would not beat himself up over it and that he would just get back up, and pray for forgiveness.

Wow. How completely mature and self-critcal (in a good way).

Rock on RoF. Most people dont come to such a realization them selves, let alone accept it so easily.

It sounds like God is really working in your heart to help you over come this. I cant tell you how excited it makes me to hear you say this. Its totally made my day that you have recognized the importants your relationship with God has on over comming sin, and that you are taking active steps toward growing that relationship.

Cool cool cool. I will definately keep praying for you. ^_^
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Hey bro,

I'm continuing to lift you up. Don't feel like you're alone. If you read Romans 7, even the apostle Paul talks about how he apparently struggled with the fleshly nature after he became a Christian, how at times he knew right and wanted to do it but didn't. But what he didn't want to do, that was what he did. But if you read into the next chapter, you can see that Paul took comfort in knowing that there was no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, and that it's Christ who rescues us from sin. As long as we live in this flesh we'll struggle, but God knows that, and His mercy is always there to forgive us.

If you need to PM someone, my box is open, bro.

Had a good cry today. I started praying while listening to this song by Red called pieces. Funny how God works. I had heard the song alot but the lyrics fit the moment so much. I prayed for power to control my thought and actions.

Here are the lyrics for those who also struggle with this issue.

I'm here again
A thousand miles away
a broken mess
just scattered pieces of who I am
I tried so hard
thought I could do this on my own
I've lost so much along the way

[I]Then I see you face
I know I'm finally yours
I find everything
I thought I lost before
you call my name
I come to you in pieces
so you can make
me whole

I've come undone
but you make sense of who I am
like puzzle peices in your hand

When I see you face
I know I'm finally yours
I find everything
I thought I lost before
you call my name
I come to you in pieces
so you can make
me whole
I've tried so hard so hard

Then I see you face
I know I'm finally yours
I find everything
I thought I lost before
you call my name
I come to you in pieces
so you can make
me whole

I know what it's like, maybe not in this exact area, but I struggled with porn a year or so ago. Someone mentioned cutting yourself off completely, and that's what I had to do. I was staring a link in the face, when something, whether the Holy Spirit or just common sense, whispered "It's not worth it." And it's not. Your future wife is worth so much more than some pictures now, think about her when you're tempted.

Trust me, she'll appreciate it. I mean, not that I'm married, but just trust me on this one.

UPDATE:

I've done pretty bad as far as putting up defenses or putting up a fight againts temptation. However, as odd as it seems, the one thing that is making want to view it less and less everyday is hentai itself.

I constantly find stuff that disgust me or sometimes angers me. You know the common mis-conception of hentai is that it doesn't hurt anybody because it's just art. However, Hentai displays lots of different types of "Fantasies". Some of them of beyond sane and could be very destructive if one were to act out these "fantasies".

I find more reasons to hate it but it still is tempting. Why? Becuase it's that tricky. Satan is the father of lies. When you are first tempted you think that you'll find something you really like. In the end, you find stuff you never wanted to lay eyes on and, if you are really unlucky, you'll develope thoughts that were never intended ,by God, to be your way of thinking about sex.

heh, I did a report on the dangers of pornography, ironicly my reason why was because of something that happened to me as a young lad......

I was a 11 then, and I was what some would call a "late bloomer". I often got mocked because apparently kids thought I was gay, something about the way I was back then. ANYHOW so one night me and my parents were watching this movie, unfortunatley my parents were unaware that the movie they had choosen that night would forever impact and change my life.

I can still remember the movie's title, but I wont put it here for the sake of not spreading temptation around. anyhow so while we were watching the movie seemed to be a little werid and out in left field, but overall okay. that's when it took a nose dive. In a matter of 2 seconds, this seemingly innocent movie became a sexual grabage heap. I was young and curious then, my parents told me too look away, so I did, but being a young boy who did not know of this world called "sexuality". Being the curious boy I was I decided that when my parents wern't looking I'd sneak the tape out and fast forward to that part we'd seen that night where my parents told me too look away. Forever since then I have regreted that decission.

I very easily became addicted to this new thing I'd discovered, often time when my parents left and I was alone I'd pull out that tape, fast forward, and play, rewind, repeat. I was living in hell.

My troubles didn't escilate until about a year later. I'd stopped that thing with that movie at this point, something about it made me feel dirty and icky, I didn't understand why, because I had never really dived into the bible before, sure I'd gone to sunday school, I knew the golden rule and all that stuff, but I'd never met Jesus.

anyhow one day that year I was fiddeling with an internet connection, something newer to me. suddenly a wild thought crossed my name, "why not type in "_____" I'll leave it blank for the sake of blocking temptation. Anyhow, I typed in that word into the URL box and suddenly a pornography site flashed up onto my screen. I WAS STUNNED. I hurridely hit the X button, flabergasted at this. a little later the addictive chains raped around my kneck again, and I eventually wandered into the dark land we speak of here.

It's a constant struggle for me, just a few days ago I fell off the bandwagon again, seems its so easy too, just one click and your their, tis a dangerous world.

I'm thinking of writeing a book one of these days, its title would be

"Pornography: a drug dealers drug of choice"

Society dosn't rank porn up with drugs, but I think it definately deserves it, its got all the signs and traits of a drug

1)its addicting

2)its destructive- it literally changes the structure of someones brain.

3)it will eventually cause an inablity to have sexual interaction with one spouse.

4)it is fatal, it destoys the soul

mabey I'll post my report here some time, I think we need to get the word out about what this stuff does.

In the mean time please pray for me.

"Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.""

UPDATE:

I've got great news. I'm 100% positive that I am no longer a slave to hentai or porn.

You see God was already dealing in my heart about it. I was finding more of the stuff I was looking up disturbing and in no way satisfiying. Then I had an argument with someone on an argument with some one on a myspace group about the difference between hentai and anime. In the process of making up about it, I told them my story and they told me their story. Their story was so sad that I never can give myself a chance to be tempted. I feel no desire at all to go back to it.

Thanks you guys for all your prayers.
