Profile Picture Upload Limit?

I see a lot of users who have pretty big pictures as their profile pictures, but I can't upload one thats bigger than 300x300 pixels. oO; I'm just wondering why this is, or if I need to have a certain option set in my profile or something. Sorry for bothering you, I just wish I could upload larger pictures ^^;

Well, Mith changed the size for profile pics a while back, but that only applies to new profile pics being uploaded. If someone had a larger one before the limit was established, it's still there (like mine), but if I tried to upload a new one that same size, it wouldn't let me.

Edit: Oh but I was just talking to Sora, and she said that she just uploaded her profile pic a couple days ago, and it's bigger than the 300x300 limit. Hmm, oh well, it's not that big of a deal anyway.

There's also the possibility the issue is related to the actually size of the image (in kilobytes).

Btw: What is the size limt for profile pics anyway?

I want to re do mine and make a banner pro file pic, but I wasn't sure what the size that I will need it in as I edit in photoshop.

For me, the picture can't be larger than 300x300 pixels. I'm not sure about the kilobyte thing. That could be my problem.

Well, there's a 300 KB restriciton on the total image size. I don't see any other obvious limits, though.
