He chose to become a Heartless, rather than having his heart forced away by another Heartless or by research. Because he willingly chose to be a Heartless, he retained much of his thoughts and desires. I think that is why he was able to plan, although of course, his plan was to capture more hearts, like any Heartless (he was just going after the biggest heart of all).

This is a sound theory. Here's a supporting argument. When Sora became a Heartless, he did so of his own free will. He became a Heartless, but he wasn't operating on pure instinct. I think that's what kept him from attacking Donald, Goofy, and Kairi, because he wasn't acting on instinct. Instinct would have prompted him to attack the group immediately. Does that make sense?

It still hasn't activated? There really should only be two requirements:
1) All forms and summons at Level 7.
2) Beaten all other parts of the Hades Paradox Cup.

Beat Sephiroth. Can you say, 15 health bars?

Edit: Actually, I can't remember if that's true or not. I'll have to look it up.

Thanks.

And, now that I look it up...

Once you beat Sephiroth, talk to Cloud to get a new keyblade that has a higher attack than Ultima Weapon. (Technically, this makes it the most powerful.)

Ultima has higher magic, however.

Stats:

Fenril (Obtained after beating Sephiroth)
ATK = 7 MAG = 1

Ultima Weapon
ATK =6 MAG = 4

Me gonna calls you Roxas from now on okies Azier (wink)! Hmm, but I don't wanna beat my Sephiroth. I... I... I love him! I love Cloud to, but he totally dissed me in my dream. Yeah, these girls were ganging up on me and he just stood by and watched. Well, actually he was in his black sports car that I actually saw in real life at the gas station the weekend after.

The Fenrir does have a higher attack than the Ultima Weapon (which is why I generally use it) but since you have Final form why not just use both? Plus, the Ultima Weapon is equipped with MP Hastega, which is nice for bosses like Sephiroth that you'll actually need to heal for.

By the way, about Sephiroth: beating him is mostly about finding a way to avoid taking damage for each one of his attacks. Which ones are hitting you most? I can give you what I did, anyway.

You mean at the end after he does his power-up thing and then starts doing everything faster? Yes, that's when he starts getting difficult. But what specific attacks are causing you problems? Unless I have specifics, I can't be very helpful.

For example, for a while I was always getting hit by the blue orbs that track you. But after a while I found that if you just wildly attack the orbs in midair you can generally keep from getting hit. Sometimes Sephiroth will attack while you're doing this, but if you're lucky you can hit him before he begins his combo and do damage of your own.

I'm glad my avatar is a hit.

For Sephiroth, you could try getting Sora to lvl 99.

It takes a few hours, though.

Getting Sora to level 99 is a big help, but you really should pretty much be there by the time all your drives and summons are level 7. At least, I was. You could be more efficient at it then I was, though.

Best trick for dealing with Sephie? Glide. Most of his attacks will land behind you if you glide around the ring in a big circle. I spent more time running away then I did attacking. Final Form + Blizzard is a good combo. First of all, you're fast enough to avoid most of his attacks and secondly, it does a nice bit of damage.

Use Elixirs instead of heal. That way you refresh your HP and MP at the same time so you can keep up your onslaught. Beware of two of Sephie's attacks. On one, you get to use a trigger command, as long as you press the triangle in time, you will be fine. The other is when he hovers high into the air. He's about to unleash a devastating attack. If you are near him, hit him quick. If not, just start gliding around the ring to avoid the worst of it.

That's how I beat him.

Wiat, is that Sora? At first I thought it was Roxas, but he has thinner lips. I know, I need a life  Yeah, I guess it would be the blue orbs. I guess I'm kinda hesitant to beat him

Do what I did: make an extra save file just before fighting him (with everything set up for it) then save in your normal slot once you beat him. That way you can go back and do it again whenever you like. I personally think it is one of the more enjoyable fights in the game.

Focus on the Family review update

Postby Rocketshipper » Fri Jun 23, 2006 10:18 pm

I just got the latest issue of Plugged In in the mail yesterday, and they had a printed version of the KH 2 review I posted a while ago.

It was basicly a very short summary of everything they said in the on-line review. However, one new sentince at the end kind of got on my nerves -_-.

"Parents wary of anime's darker side may find this marriage (Disney and Squenix) an unsettling gateway from one to the other"

First off, dark side? what? I'd say KH is pretty far from anime's "dark side". It's not gory, it doesn't have gratitious fanservice or sexual content, and it's not openly promoting some specific eastern religion. And second, a gateway into dark anime? Do they fear that kids are going to play KH and then go buy Hellsing or Ninja Scroll? I think that's a little bit of a stretch.

Also, the tone I got from both the on-line review and the print review is that the reviewer is marking down the game also for having a complicated story. Of course I could just be paranoid ^^ (afterall, he could mark points off simply for it being confusing, like many reviewers would) but I get the feeling that the reason is more along the lines of "This storyline is too complicated and mature (intellectually) for children, that's bad"

I think their perspective is more that anime in general is bad, therefore it is bad if children who only watched Disney would play KHII for that reason and then get drawn into Japanese animated cinematography.

You aren't entirely alone in your paranoia. As I commented earlier, the reviewer certainly didn't impress me by his analysis of the plot.

Another thing that annoyed me a little in the review is that they called KH 2 an "anime style role playing game". Of course, again, I could just be paranoid (it does have "anime style" character designs afterall) but it seems more like they have come to automaticly associate the RPG genre as being "anime style" itself.

The term as they use it definitely seems pejorative, but my question is since when is Disney the paragon of Christian family values?

The plot probably is a little complex of you didn't play KH1, though. Which, for most should be inherent in the 2 that follows the main title of this game. My guess is the reviewer had no intention of painting this game in a positive light, so any negative he could think of he used.

Seems kind of sad to me. Plugged In is always complaining about all the super violent gory video games like "Grand Theft Auto", "Doom", and "Resident Evil 4" that kids are playing these days, So I'd think they would enjoy a gore and sex free game that promotes friendship and has more than just a paper thin plot. But no -_-. Now it seems the only kind of video game these guys could ever like is a puzzle game like Tetris or something, since almost every other video game in the universe has at least some sort of physical conflict driving it.

No offence, Cross but that was kinda off topic.
I can tell you though, I don't care much for Dragon Quest VIII seeing how the battle system is too basic, and the characters and plot suffer from horrible weakness.

Perhaps he accidentally misplaced this post? It strikes me as very fitting in a recommendations thread. Of course, in that case, he might never read this thread again. Not a big deal either way.

Meanwhile, though I enjoyed DQ8 I can't say I would rate it that highly. Regardless, let's not discuss it here.
