Job - Praise and a prayer request

Postby meboeck » Fri May 19, 2006 9:46 am

I posted a request about finding a job a while back, and I said I got a job at Red Robin. Well, I found out I'm not a good waiter. But God opened up another door and about a month and a half ago I got a job at the airport. I wasn't sure at first how much I would like it because it was a lot of manual labor, and that's not really my thing. But God has blessed me so much. I work for a company that contracts with Southwest Airlines and my job puts me right at the Southwest ticket counter. God has helped me to focus on serving the workers and customers there, so I am essentially getting paid to help people all day. If that wasn't good enough, all the Southwest people are taking me in as a coworker even though I don't work for Southwest and I am a lot younger than many of them. Many of them have even been telling me I should apply for Southwest!

That's where my prayer request comes in. I would love to work for Southwest. I already have good relations with the workers and supervisors, and it is a great environment. Also, I would get benefits, which would really be helpful since I am not a full-time student. The problem is Southwest is not currently hiring customer service agents for my airport. So many doors have been opening through the coworkers and supervisors, and I really think this job is right for me. So please pray that a position would open. Thanks!

Sounds like there's some great potential there. I'll pray that things would open up for you, if it's God's will. That's awesome that God's blessed you with good relationships at your job. He's so good to us!

I have a an update, but first I have to backtrack and tell you something I had left out. Part of the reason I wanted to apply for Southwest was that I have a weird schedule and I don't work full-time. I had asked about switching to a full-time position in the evenings but that didn't work out. That's why I decided to apply for Southwest. Well now my manager has come back and said I might be able to get the shift I wanted after all. That would actually be slightly better pay and more consistent hours than Southwest. The downside is that I still wouldn't get benefits. Please pray that God would open the door He wants open and close the one that should be closed.
