After MGS4, Hideo claims he is done with the series. He wants to move on to new things. Nevetheless, it is possible for a Metal Gear game on the Nintendo, but not by Hideo.

Name update.

As of today, May 1, the Trademark and Patent Office has updated their website. There is STILL no results for "Wii." If Nintendo had actually registered the trademark, it would have shown up by now. How very odd...looks like Nintendo IS pulling a fast one on us. ;)

You also have to wonder, if Wii was indeed the real name of the console, why hasn't Nintendo bought wii.nintendo.com? Considering revolution.nintendo.com is their website...and also, wii.nintendo.uk was bought by some random dude...if Nintendo was serious about naming their new console that, you can bet dollars to donuts they woulda bought that.

Guess we'll have to wait until E3 to see.

Yeah, I've been kinda’ skeptical if it’s real…

If Nintendo didn't try to pull an ilovebees with Metroid Prime 2 and Reggie wasn't on their marketing team, I wouldn't doubt Nintendo naming it the "Wii". I'm going to say there is a fair chance this is a hoax staged by Nintendo.

But, hoax or not, "Wii" is the talk of the internet and overshadowing the talk about the X360 and PS3, so I guess they did do something right. I’m just waiting for a rabid Nintendo fan to register the name or steal the domain.

Makes sense, since Snake looks like he's about to keel over. :p

True. Even if it's fake, they're getting a HECK alot of attention. If it really was them, this could be one of the best marketing moves (read: prank) EVER. XD

Regardless of whether or not the name is real, it's not so much the goofy sounding name that I dislike, it's the idea behind it.

The whole silly idea behind "Wii" is some sort of "We need to get everyone together in our happyfunland of Nintendamerica!" The Gamespot crew put it best. Meh. I hope it isn't true.

I don't want to give a big explanation every time I say, "Hey guys, I'mma go play with my Wii."

Assuming I actually got one.

Big news from the Square-Enix press conference:

Dragon Quest Swords will be a launch title for the Wii! I'm rather excited about this one.

Also, a sequel to FF Crystal Chronicles was discussed (but already known).

Here's a link to the story: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6149412.html

Dragon Quest VIII was one of the best RPGs released last year...

The answer to your question depends somewhat on who you ask and which game in the series you are talking about. Outside of Japan, the series is not as popular as Final Fantasy.
It doesn't have an emphasis on story and constantly changing battle systems like FF and other RPGs. It's focused on very traditional RPG gameplay.

What I'm excited about is traditional RPG goodness (hopefully) mixed in with some sword-fighting or magic-casting using the Wii remote. But it's more than just controls, though. There's gotta be a good game behind it.

Probably when the price goes down. But im talking about soon after launch. Im just so against the idea of having the two of them seperate and the layout of the remote. Maybe im just stuck in my ways but I honestly hope they will think of the ones like me and have a controller that has close to what the remote has...

edit

man I am seeing things I thought you said "buy it"...no I cannot see myself liking it, still to this day hate the n64 controller (loved the system though) was irrated at the dreamcast and the "duke" controllers and wont play with them if i have a choice (i also like both systems and love respective games on them). Its just I like what I like and im stuck in that rut.

If the remote is all there is I will probably come back to it like a beaten dog, desperatly wanting the sweet love that is the wondefull games but getting cuffed by the mean and nasty remote

I'm watching the Nintendo press conference right now. News thus far:

It's the Wii. Period. The Nintendo guy made a joke about no one liking it. Nintendo's making jokes of themselves. Cool.

Zelda will launch as both a Gamecube title and a Wii title (two versions) and will launch with the Wii. So Zelda's launching with a Nintendo console. Big news! (Oh, and it looks fun, of course.)

Also, Super Mario Galaxy! Looks hard, but I know it will be incredible. He's in space, walking across planets. I think working with different levels of gravity is a big part of the game.

Metroid Prime 3 Corruption and Red Steel look absolutely awesome. Two great FPS's.

Other notable games: Nintendo's got two "mature" games in the works: Project HAMMER and Disaster. Excite Truck looks incredible, too (think Excitebike with trucks).

Sonic Wild Fire and Wario Ware look fun. I'm not a sports fan, but the sports game look incredibly fun and intuitive.

No launch date or price, but it's going to be the cheapest console and we'll have it before Christmas.

About the controller: Speakers in the remote (depth of sound), rumble feature, BOTH controllers on the nunchaku have motion sensors.

Finally, some quick DS news: Starfox DS and Yoshi's Island 2 coming! That's right: a sequel to the original Yoshi's Island. Awesome.

Whew, that's all for now. No Virtual Console news though. I'll edit accordingly.

EDIT: Wii will feature "Wii Connect 24." You can keep it on in standby mode and allow it to stay connected to Internet, so that content is delivered even when "off." When in standby, uses little power, so it's presumably cheap.

Wii Sports is a game that will launch with Wii. Tennis, baseball, and golf, all in one. I'm thinking a pack-in game, maybe! Reminds me of the basic sports games that launched with the NES back in the 80's.

Rogie basically said what I would've said. RUMBLE feature, NOT force feedback. I called it. :P

Oh, and NO SUPER SMASH BROS.?! I thought it was a freakin' launch game, yet not a single second of footage for it! BOO, Nintendo. BOO.

I'm also not too fond of this "two versions" of Zelda. By the way, did anyone else catch the launch date for Twilight Princess? The same day the Wii comes out. I hate you, Nintendo. I hate you so much. Delaying a Gamecube game for that long. *changes Nintendo's name to Working Designs*

Other thoughts:

The guy playing Zelda looked like he was having trouble controlling Link for how "intuitive" the control scheme supposedly is. I dunno, maybe that's just me. The iron boots on the magnet were freakin' awesome.

The lighting effects on Red Steel were incredible.

Ouendan is coming to America! Or should I say "Elite Beat Squad." ;)

The speaker in the controller...that is a nice touch. I really, really like that.

Overall, a good conference. I didn't get as hyped up about anything as I did during the Sony conference (except for some DS games), but they did deliver...I guess I was just hoping for something extra. But that doesn't make it bad, still a good conference.

I like WiiConnect24,now that I know how it works. And the speaker on the controller? That's nice.

And I think at launch,if SSBR is bundled with the Wii,I could be getting Red Steel.

Twilight Princess will come in two versions. One is the Wii version. The other is the Gamecube version. Aside from the controller, the two games are exactly the same. Despite this, Nintendo is still delaying the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess to launch on the same day as the Wii console...meaning the earliest you will play Twilight Princess on your Gamecube is October (since they said it will launch fourth quarter of this year).

Delaying a completed game just to coincide with the launch of their new console. Nintendo has now angered me.

This isn't Wii news, but one Gamecube game was announced right after the conference:

Super Paper Mario.

It's not a Mario RPG, but yet another 2D Mario side-scroller, with Mario, Peach, and Bowser as playable characters. That's 2 Mario side-scrollers in one year (the other being next week's DS SMB). It's a good time to be a Mario fan.

So they have a wierd name change. Oh well. Still gonna buy.

So Zelda is delayed AGAIN. Oh well AGAIN. I'll play others stuff, watch some anime (One Piece!), live my life, and get it WHENEVER it comes out. =p

"Elite Beat Squad" and the Paper Mario game sound interesting, though.
