City of blue tile
Figure in Ceramics
Where we reach out
Grab for Porcelain
But its too fragile to hold
And it shatters in our hands
In time the seasons will seal these shards
Into the slits that denote your wrists
Death is the answer
To calculations composed of motions that are the same
And secret and different A missing alphabet with a message for us
When people die
They take a piece of us with them
And holes in clouds are minutes passing
Rescind this line and several ties

I listen to all kinds of stuff, from classical and orchestral (movie scores, etc.) to rock to 60s and 70s singer-songwriter stuff (for example: Simon and Garfunkel, Carole King, James Taylor), to country/bluegrass (Alison Krauss, Nickel Creek) to Christian to techno (Basement Jaxx, Moby) to a small bit of rap (Outkast, Nas, edited) to whatever else. I have way too many cds.

Well, there are (besides Christian and secular) different types of hardcore.

Screamcore, (self-explanatory) e.g. Earth Crisis
Mallcore (so dubbed because it's kinda overhyped and you see and hear it all over stores like Hot Topic, The Wall, or FYE), e.g. Limp Bizkit
Rapcore (rap/hard music fusion) e.g. POD.
Metalcore (heavy metal with screaming or a sort of industrial sound) e.g. Rammstein

Anyways, those are just some general areas. There's some that doesn't quite fit those descriptions.
The other thing about hardcore is that in the secular world specifically, it can get really preachy. Lots of secular hardcore bands (especially the screamcore type) are straight-edge or vegan types, which can come across like "If you don't stop drinking alcohol or wearing leather, you're wrong and we'll beat the [loud expletive] out of you!"

Mallcore!!! I love it!!! One of the disadvantages of being out of the pop culture loop is missing out on how to make fun of the annoying stuff (like bands that copy stuff twenty years old and pretend they are doing somthing innovative).

Yeah, I'd file Prodigy under "techno" too.

...But that was long ago before I established the "No cursing" song filter I have today.

No cursing? Wow, that really cuts a lot out. I mean listen to whatever you have a taste for, but don't throw out the baby with the bath water, man. For instance, there's moderate swearing in some of Ben Folds' stuff, but he (solo and with BF5) has done some really good stuff.
