So you see now... She's too young too. :)

I have no illusions... I know you're probably not going to listen to an "old person" like me anyway. But I really wish enough people had told me that even 18 is too young to date seriously. Hanging out with friends is fine (both guys and girls), but in high school, the hormones really mess things up. Seriously. And you don't even really know yourself yet. I don't think anybody really knows who they are at 14.... or even 18. Heck, I'm still figuring it out! But now I have much more self-confidence and mental stability than I did in high school... and those are important ingredients in a healthy relationship, I think.

*stops philosophizing* You're gonna do what you're gonna do; I just really hope that you give it a lot of thought first... because it really is important.

Darn you, Volt. You pretty much just said everything I was going to say...even the laughing at the thread part. :-D

Who else had the urge to listen to "The Look" by Roxette after reading this thread? (I'm still listening to it)

Well, yeah, it's all about listening to the girl. They're all different. Get to know them. And if the time is right, and you think it's a go, ask her the 'ol "Wanna grab a bite to eat sometime?"

and...
Guys DO like it when girls ask them out! Do you know how much pressure it takes OFF the guy when that happens? And if you say "due to experience, it seems to me that guys don't like girls asking them out"
Don't mean to burst your bubble, but did it ever occur to you that just maybe they didn't want to date you? Not being mean or anything, just face the fact; maybe they didn't see you in that way.

And you're never too "young" to date. It's about maturity.

Which guys hit later than girls. Further, maturity doesn't generally come in jr. high/your freshman year.

As for girls minds being confusing , mine is also, so we are even. If I was told a young lady liked me, it would just be another interesting thing to be filed away, like my drivers license number, things I've learned of the people here ( actually, this would take precendence), or the square of 7. I know that sounds a bit unusual, but that truly is how unimportant developing a relationship is right now for me.

No, no, please do. We wouldn't be serving our purpose as a Christian community if it wasn't a place where you could ask questions.

Everyone, though, seriously. Lay off shamanking343. Thanks to everyone who tried to offer serious advice, but make sure you're nice about it. And eirewolf... you correctly admitted he wasn't going to listen to you. Your age comment needed to be said, and I might have done so myself if you hadn't, but once is enough.

Can we let the thread die now, so that shamanking343 can feel safe asking questions in the future?

cbwing0 expresses the core of the issue... it really has no other place. The General forum covers a very broad scope of topics, some even that could be elsewhere. For threads on this topic, the General forum is basically the only place to go. Of course, if it became silly enough it would go to the Goof Off forum, but there have been quality posts here that completely deserve to become part of the writer's post counts. Therefore, it's out of places. Why do you ask, by the way?

I wish I could understand femmes better... There's a joke about that. God is going to give a man any wish he wanted. He said he wanted a bridge from california to hawaii. God said "That would be impossible. There's no physical way" so he said "Ok, I want to understand women" and God says "Do you want that bridge 2 lanes or 4?"

(as a note, despite it being impossible for man or for natural forces, anything is possible with God)

Anyhow, to know when a girl likes you, it depends on her temperment... Some girls say it straight out, some are very shy about it, some go for the opposites game and treat you like crap when they actually like you, and some (most maybe) won't like you unless you do something to earn it and then will give you very small hints expecting that if you are really meant for each other, you'll just somehow "get it" (Girls, this line of reasoning is just cruel) and if you don't get it you're not worth their time. Then, there's the girls that believe, regardless of their temperment, that they'll Marry someone who spends time with their family, specifically with their dads and that they'll spend years getting to know them as friends and then it will just be right (an extention of the Joshua Harris crowd)

I prefer girls who are honest, however the dillema lies in my inability to be openly honest in this case for fear of losing a friendship. So, guys can be pretty tricky too. I don't know what it is about someone likeing you that does something to you... I've lost a lot of friends by making admissions of like (hehe) to them... They're comfortable being my friend, but not when there's any sort of feelings there... (Girls... You suck when you do that, plan and simple... And guys who do that too (you know you who are) you REALLY suck...) It does make me uncomfortable when a girl that i have no interest in likes me, but to dump them as friends is inexcusable.

Anyhow... I've spoken my very strong opinions on this subject... Was I too honest with how I feel? I'll know in an hour or a day (depending on when I get back on my computer)

You, Bobtheduck, have never been fortunate enough to be speaking in an area I disagree with you. Otherwise you might have changed my mind. Then again, most areas I either have a very firmly held opinion, or I really haven't done any research, in which case I have an opinion that can be easily changed.

Eh? *scratches head* Did I miss something? I'm just not sure where this came from, since my quote that you were responding to was a response to something that Lochaber Axe said. (Something about a woman's word being law, and there's no refuting it.)

Anyway, I don't think you have wasted your breath. In fact, I enjoy reading what you have to say.

Still, if your goal in life is to change people's opinions, you're in for a hard road... (That is not a commentary on your powers of persuasion, but rather on the stubbornness and pride of human beings in general.)

So, what is this "Other Sexism?" If it's a volatile subject, you can PM me about it. I promise I won't hurt you.
