Trying a new MMO...

Postby Markus » Mon Apr 17, 2006 12:27 am

Hey all,

I have been thinking of trying an MMO that is new to me...
Wondering if Star Wars Galaxies is any good.

Or...

If you think there may be a better one to try out.

I have played FFXI, WOW, and COH.

I liked the active gameplay of COH, the PvP of WOW, and the community/teamwork of FFXI.

Is SWG worth trying? Is it as HUGE of a world as it seems? Should I skip over SWG and look at another?

Opinions?

Try Flyff:

Its fun, awesome, and TOTALLY free! It may not be the best out of the others. But it is FREE!

skip SWG because in the past year or so it's been turned from a 3rd person "you actually have to do some work" game where all classes and cooperation was necessary to do anything; into a 1st person "lolol im a jedi and i just bought the game, haha i pwnd u" game where crafters own the entire economy.
Unfortunately I really cant reccomend another game because I've promised myself to stay away from the genre.

After seeing your response Sync, I looked into the game more, and I agree. It does look really dumb now...

Unfortunetly, I myself am trying out different MMO's with little success. I've been in WOW, FFXI, and Ragnarok. A good place to check on different MMO's is http://www.mmorpg.com ... It at least let's you search a ton of different ones...but I haven't found a good one just yet....

Maybe we should just all pick one and band together to form an unbeatable group?

Well, one idea might be to find a new MMO, or at least have one where we can all start new characters, then go from there? Or just have everyone start hooking up under a certain guild name...

i was in the beta for DnD Online, it was pretty fun, very immersive i would say, because when you go into dungeons or quests there is a narrator (kinda like a DM) there were a good amount of classes and pretty good customization. the game seemed pretty fun and i would like to give it another chance, but i dont like to pay monthly for games anymore, wow sucked to much money away from me (and time)

thats one of the reasons i love guild wars, its not as massive as wow or other mmorpgs, i would say it plays more like a multiplayer rpg. since you are only with the massive amount of people in the towns, once you leave on a quest or exploring you are in your own world with your party. it has amazing graphics and there is alot of nice high end content, plus the expansion is coming out next week :) (or you could get the the expansion and play that standalone)

maybe a trial will come out for DnD Online soon so i can play it a little more

Well, then here's an idea. What about for each game, people put down what guild or area they are in and let people know that they're looking for more people if we want. That way, if you're new to the game, then we can all join forces to help each other out! And I would be willing to get back into some MMO's just to help people out..Like Guild Wars or see about trying this Flyff MMO...

Sounds like a great idea, but it also sounds like it needs approval before we try to implement it.

Ill pm a mod...
