Resigned as YP & built a new bible study!

Postby holysoldier5000 » Fri Apr 07, 2006 8:32 am

Hey everyone,
Thanks for keeping me in your prayers these past couple of weeks. Well the mutiny was successful and I resigned as the YP of my church, which was both sad and good at the same time. The ministry had been a real burden and resigning lifted that burden from my back. Sure it is sad to see a failed attempt but it is good because resigning released me to fulfill several new ministry needs. After I resigned several of the youth (who liked me) protested and hearing their plea for a youth group I fashioned together a home bible study independent from the church. And WOW! What a difference. This teen bible study is only filled with teens that want to be there and wow is it fun! Our numbers are all ready growing. This weekend will be our 2nd meeting and we are planning on having 10 teens! Can you believe it! I just praise the Lord for that. But there is one slight problem... I am trying to come up with a few fun group games for teens ages 13-16, mostly girls, but some guys. Got any suggestions?

Please keep the new teen Bible Study in your prayers and please pray for the rebellious teens of my former youth group, they need to turn to God before they get into serious trouble.

God Bless

I wish you the best according to God's Will. Just be careful not to develop a prideful spirit that tends to show itself from boasting independence from "church". Just a friendly note from a fellow Christian who has been in conflict with church authorities and suffered disbandment of a student fellowship before.

Will pray for God's Spirit to place peace in hurting hearts and to resolve personal conflicts to give way to more fruitful and productive activities

Thanks everyone for the prayers. And Mave, it breaks my heart to claim "independence from the church." If I had my will the group never would have broken away in the first place. But it is not about "my will." It is about "His will," and only after much prayer, seeking guidance, and with a heavy heart, did the Lord give me the guidance of breaking away from the church. But it isn't as if I am taking the kids and running away with them. We all still attened church events and and sunday serivce. Actually I am teaching the adult sunday school class now and the teens like to sit in on the lesson.

God Bless

I totally missed this post before. It's awesome that you were open to letting God use you in this new way! Good luck with it, and I will be keeping you and your group in my prayers.

I'm so happy for you! Games we played at my old youth group:

The Oreo Game: Stick half an hour to your forehead by the smushing it on cream side down. Try to get the oreo to your mouth without using your hands.
Amoeba: All join hands around the a chair. If you touch the chair you are out, so the point is to make others touch the chair, but avoid it yourself (it's fun to watch the guys try to out do one another)
Chubby Pickles: See who can hold the most pickles in their mouth without chewing and still be able to say Chubby Pickles (this one is messy, people tend to drool)
Chair game: Everyone sits in a circle of chairs with one empty chair and a person in the center as "it". That person has to steal a seat from someone else. The people in the circle move to the chair on their right one at a time, but go as fast as they can to beat "it" to the seat.

I know some others, but they are hard to explain. I wish you well with this!

Batman: "A sound observation, Robin."
