Best Songs From Games

Postby Destroyer2000 » Mon Apr 03, 2006 10:33 am

Inspired from the Anime Songs thread, here it is:

What is your favorite song from any game? Mine would have to be:

Saddest: Aeris' Theme - FFVII
Coolest: Burning Heat! - Don't remember the exact name, it's from an old classic. Gladitron? No, but something similar.

And you can just post them in types like that. Include new types, because I know I forgot some.

Hmm. Saddest? By far the final battle song after Metal Gear 3's final battle. (To those that have played it, the song that plays at the cemetary)

Coolest? Probably the main theme to Metal Gear Solid.

I am a self admitting fanboy of Metal Gear. That however does not change the fact that they have professional music to there games that towers over most games.

I can agree that the main theme to MGS in all of its incarnations is (are?) probably some of my favorite game songs of all time, though the MGS2 version was probably my favorite.

Other songs:
Otherworld (FFX)
The Goldeneye 64 version of the James Bond theme
So Alone, Be Sorrow (Rhythm Version) (Maria's Theme from SO3)
All music from Earthbound (Mother 2)

ANY song from either Halo or Halo 2 with a guitar playing is awesome.Esicpally that one song in Halo 2,which part of it plays when the Bungie logo shows up....
The following post has been MPX42's two cents.Strangly, after every single post he does,he gives two cents to random people. :hits_self

Burning Heat! is from Gradius, and that song kicks butt.

I like the Zeal theme from Chrono Trigger.

- "Simple and Clean" from Kingdom Hearts
- "One-Winged Angel", "Aeris' Theme", and the two battle themes (boss and normal) from Final Fantasy VII
- Anything from the original Super Mario Bros.
- "Blow Me Away" from Halo 2
- "The Man With The Machine Gun" and "Maybe I'm a Lion" from Final Fantasy VIII
- The metal piece they played at the start of Final Fantasy X at the Zanarkand blitzball stadium. I think the title is "Jecht" but I don't know . . .
- The music from Stinkoman 20X6. Don't laugh, them's some good tunes.
- The title music from Doukutsu Monogatari
- The main theme from the Metal Gear Solid games, as well as MGS' boss music.
- Most of the stuff from the GBA Kirby games rocks. Especially the various boss music.
- Terra's Theme from . . . Final Fantasy VI?
- The music played in Mr. Game & Watch's stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee

Those are the ones that stick out to me. I know there are more ("Wicked Child" from one of the Castlevanias comes to mind) but I'd have to go looking. Maybe later.

That's 'Otherworld'. FF8 had some good music, too. 'The Stage Is Set' is a good song (plays during a majority of the parade part of disc 1).

That entire soundtrack was amazing. Personally, I preferred the theme from the Kokiri forest.

Plus, the Zelda theme that has traveled with all the games.

Also, the music from Silent Hill was pretty awesome. Specifically, the guitar theme when the nurse falls ill near the end.

- Dark Messenger and Vivi's Theme from FF9

- One Winged Angel from FF7 (though I preferred the Advent Children version)

- A Deus from Grandia II

- anything from Katamari Damacy. That game has the most insane soundtrack ever.

- Dr. Wily's stage theme from Megaman 2

- Saria's Song and the Gerudo Theme from Ocarina of Time

- the Marble Zone theme from Sonic the Hedgehog.

Everything from the Splinter Cell 3: Chaos Theory soundtrack. Amon Tobin is one of the best Electronica artists alive. Particularly The Lighthouse, El Cargo, The Clean Up, Kokubo Sosho Stealth, Displaced, and Ruthless Reprise. It's one of the few videogame soundtracks I can listen to away from the context of the game and just focus on the music. That's hard to do with other soundtracks because they're so tied to the game itself. Check out some previews of the songs on Amazon or iTunes or something and you won't be dissapointed.

Of course the usual Final Fantasys, Metal Gears, Elder Scrolls, Star Wars, etc. Perfect Dark Zero also has a rockin soundtrack that I have by David Clynick very good stuff. I still think Splinter Cell Chaos Theory's takes the cake though above every videogame soundtrack in existence because like I said it can stand alone from the game as awesome music itself. If you have an open mind musically for Electronica at all you should do yourself and check it out.

Dr. Wily's first level in Megaman 2 remains my favourite to this day, not to mention the intro.

And all of the music in the game.
