weird habit of mine

Talk about anything in here.

weird habit of mine

Postby wiggins » Fri Jan 02, 2004 1:48 pm

I'm not sure if this habit is a bad thing, but it is a strange habit I have and I'm worried if it perhaps has some reflections about my relationship with God, but when I think of people, not people whom I've actually met or seen, an anime image of them pops into my head. If I think of a friend, I think of them as I remember tham, and if I see someone on tv, I think of them as how I saw them on TV... but in other cases... For a better example: when I read the Bible I like to think about how it actually happened (I kinda play an imaginary movie of how it happened), and for some reason, when I do so, like when I was reading about Jesus raising a little girl to life after she had died in Luke, I imagined the girl as an anime girl... with big eyes and all... Is this bad or wrong? Does anyone else have this stranage habit? (Maybe habit isn't even the right word for it... )

I see nothing wrong with picturing someone as a cartoon, as long as you treat that same person as a real person and not a cartoon.

I've done that. Although I'm usually taking a particular feature and wondering what it would look like changed into anime form (like, how I would do a particular eye or nose shape), not usually a person as a whole. I guess there's not much difference though...^^

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

First of all, I do not think that what you are experiencing is bad; on the contrary, it is pretty cool.

I've said before that all of my dreams are "live-action," but that is not entirely true. On rare occasions, I will dream of anime characters, although I can't really make up my own (although I have imagined myself as an anime character before). More often, I convert the anime characters into what I think they would look like as real people, so that I am in the dream.

"Live Action", huh? One time I had a nightmare that incorperated elements of Monsters Inc, Metroid Prime, and quite a few other computer generated things I had sitting around in my head. That was a scary nightmare, too.

Anyway, I haven't watched enough anime to have this talent myself  but I say it's pretty cool. Personally, when I am reading a book I tend to give the main characters the appearance of semi-random people I see in school. One time, I assigned the face of a girl I didn't even know from school to a character in a book, and that character was very friendly, helpful, encouraging, and all around good person. So guess what? The next day I go to school, see that girl and think "Oh yeah, I know her! She's a really good person... No, wait.."

I just don't find cartoons (or computer animation) scary, even when it is in my mind.

Doesn't sound bad at all actually its kinda fun to do :thumb: I do it every once in awhile especially if I have no clue how a person would look.
