Bungie tour oops?

Postby Zilch » Sat Feb 18, 2006 7:48 pm

So I was watching the tour of Bungie Studios on their site(pretty dang sweet. I wanna move to Seattle and get me a job. the studio, I mean, not the site), and in one fast moving segment, I noticed a little something-something up on one of the screens that looking vaguely similar to something on a monitor in a room they weren't allowed to go in. It's a long shot, but hey, we all love being conspiricy-theorists, don't we?

Sorry, Bungie is currently working on some Downloadable content for Xbox 360. The rumours about Halo 3 being playable were false. Whatever Bungie is working on is probably Halo-related, but not Halo 3. Well, working on it I'm sure they are, but as far as the rumours go, they're untrue.

Oh, puh-lease, you actually believe their PR gags? If they want to continue hanging in that purty building, they have to be working on Halo 3. Yeah, they are working on Halo 2 for Windows Vista, but I'd bet a Mack truck to Paris Hilton's brain that they're working on Halo 3, just not full-squaded.

But how could Halo 3 NOT be in development, considering that right now it's on track for October 3, 2006?

Also, this is from Steve Ballmer's mouth, on Oct 21, 2003:

We're working on the next version -- I hate to tell you this confidentially but I'll have to swear you to secrecy now -- we're working on the next version of Xbox right now and we're working on Halo 2 and Halo 3, the two newest versions of the game.

However I think that particular picture is likely Halo 2 for Vista.

Bungie is not committing any of their staff full time to Halo 2 for Vista. It's being handled by an internal Microsoft Game Studios team under some Bungie direction.

It doesn't matter what Steve Ballmer says, or Bill Gates, or anyone else the game will be done when it's done. That's how Bungie works and Microsoft is not going to compromise their trump card in any way. I wouldn't count on it earlier than 2007 personally. With the Halo movie coming out in Summer 07 it would be an unstoppable one-two punch marketing combo as well.

Halo 3 is in development though there's no question. I mean comeon they were one of the first to receive 360 dev kits. Halo 3 very well could be *somewhat* playable right now I wouldn't put it past them. But considering it took 4 years to make Halo that went from a Mac, to PC, to Xbox transition and came out in 2001. And Halo 2 didn't come out till 04 on the same system so I would not count on it before 07.

Go back and read what I wrote, since you obviously didn't do that.

Done?

Good. I never said Bungie isn't working on Halo 3, I said that the rumours of a playable build weren't true. They're working on some downloadable stuff and Xbox Live Market stuff, which is what the rumours of playable games were.

And for the last time, Halo 3 is not supposed to be out in '06. Bill Gates made some dumb statement about how it was going to counter the PS3 launch, but if you pay any attention to stuff (which none of you seem to do), he's said that's not exactly true. Bungie will be done with Halo 3 when it's done.

Yes which none of us seem to do...:eyeroll: Except I said exactly the same thing yesterday. Yes I know you replied 15 minutes later.

And exactly how would you know so much about Halo 3? I HIGHLY doubt you are a Bungie employee.

Quotes are a wonderful thing for specifying who you're talking to.:thumb:

Well regardless to who you're talking to whether it's Impacto, Zilch, or me I can answer your question. I don't know that much about Halo 3. I never made it sound as if I did. Everything I know about Halo 3 is either speculation, from Bungie's site, past knowledge, game sites, etc. Besides really the only thing I was speculating on was the release date.

Wow, all this madness over a silly photograph which you can't even tell what it is... vaguely familiar whatever. If you told me it was a stormtrooper in that picture It would of seemed plausible
