Tekken 5

Postby ShiroiHikari » Sat Feb 11, 2006 2:12 pm

I just now got a copy of Tekken 5. Yeah, I know it's been out for almost a year now but it was always so expensive until recently @_@

Let me just say that I LOVE this game. The graphics are awesome. The gameplay is challenging. The story mode is a little goofy at times though, but not as horrendously bad as some past fighting games. The voice acting is kinda iffy sometimes depending on the character, but they speak in English, Japanese AND Korean (maybe even Mandarin too, not sure) so there's no crappy dubbing to deal with.

The new characters are pretty cool too. What's more fun than playing as a friggin' kangaroo?! Also, Asuka kicks major buttock. And there's a guy that looks like Blade. XD

One other little thing that I liked: there's a map where you're fighting on a big piece of ice with a bunch of penguins standing around watching. XD

So, I'm just wondering if anyone else here is into the Tekken series (I played the heck out of Tekken 4 for the longest time).

Actually, Eddie Gordo might still be available as an alternate costume for Christie Monteiro. Not sure.

Seems like I made a thread on this a couple millenia ago. Regardless, it is a great game. Who do you think wins this tournament in the official storyline?
Take it like you gave it; what else matters in the end? To be honest, it's all a one-shot test; that leaves plenty of places to go wrong, but how will you ever know? There's a pointer, I will admit. Turn it on, listen to it, feel it burn.

Yeah, he is but it involves beating the game with Christie.

Hee hee, another Asuka fan... right on Shiki! She's a little like Jun from Tekken 2, but I was never quite able to get a handle on her playing style. However Asuka just feels right to me.

I wish so very much that Tekken 5 was playable online. I get tired of fighting games quickly because I haven't found many people here whose company I enjoy that would play it and the closest arcade with it is an hour away.

YES! Online play would make that game all kinds of awesome. I too get tired of just playing it by myself...Brad doesn't like playing with me because I beat him :p My other friends either don't like the Tekken games or aren't into games at all...T_T

Just paste a lined peice of paper over Christie while playing as her.

I did that against Yunalesca in FFX.

If only I could`ve done that with Lola in the Transporter 2. XP

LOL, ever actually play with Christie? You could beat the game with her with your eyes shut by holding down and pressing the two kick buttons over and over. :hits_self

Soul Calibur, Tekken, and Virtua Fighter desperately need online play in their next installments. If it's not included they will be utter failures and someone will probably firebomb their offices.

Dead or Alive Ultimate and 4 are the only decent fighting games out now with online play. I own 4 and love it. It would be pretty pointless to put tape on the screen there though.:P But it's more amusing to laugh at the boobage physics and than anything else.

I was never much of a Tekken fan but I loved 2. Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter, and Dead or Alive are more my thing.

Not trying to start a fight, but I prefer Tekken greatly over Soul Calibur. I don't even know why, specifically. (I think it's because Tekken has more hot guys in it. >.> Hwoarang...Lee...Steve Fox... X3)

Actually, I just understand the fighting system of Tekken better. I never really did get the hang of Soul Calibur.

However, Soul Calibur III has a pretty awesome character customizer.

Alot of ppl do like tekken better (even tho i don't think all for that reason XD) i think its because it was one of the first good 3d fighters and also it has a pretty deep fighting system

I can`t believe girls. Who would buy a game just for the looks of the characters?! You are treating guys like material objects. Whta kind of person do you think you are to buy a game just for the hotness of a character?!

If you would notice, Christie Monteiro is about as modest as most of the Soul Calibur females...

I will state that whatever it was that Tekken 4 lost, Tekken 5 regained. I have no idea, but I could play 5 a lot easier than 4. Soul Calibur 3 is also much funner than 2, but I can't say exactly why. Character customization helps. What they really need is Soul Calibur with an online play like their cabinet/arcade version of Soul Calibur 2 had. That would rokk.

Yeah, SC has an abundance of scantily-clad women in it. Taki in that red costume...eww.

Anyway, I like both of these games because they have such a diverse array of characters. You've got people from all over the globe, with every kind of fighting style you can think of. Soul Calibur is cool because you get shiny sharp objects to beat people with. XD

Speaking of fighting games...does anyone play Guilty Gear?

Played Guilty Gear once on the GBA. But I'm sure that wasn't really one of the best installments.

If you want an amazing fighting game, check out Naruto Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4. It is sheer amazement. The last Tekken game I played was Tekken 3, I think I'll take a look into Tekken 5 now.

Yeah, if you can, try to get a hold of a copy of Guilty Gear X2. For the PS2, it's near impossible to find, but for Xbox you can get GGX2 #Reload (I saw it at Gamestop for like 12 bucks used).

What platform is the Naruto game for? And do you have to import it?

I play Guilty Gear XX on a regular basis, either on my PSP, PS2 or Arcade >.>

It's by far my favorite fighting game, interesting characters, great music, responsive controls, couldn't ask for more. I love using Ky, Millia, Chipp, Slayer, May and Baiken. I'm working on getting better with a few others though.

Oh and Tekken 5 = <3 as well. I've been a Nina player since T3.

This is a discussion. Discussions grow and evolve, and change. They don't always stay on the original topic, and I myself have no problem with it.. That's what discussions are supposed to be about. You may ask someone what time it is, but you don't necessarily only dicuss time with that person.

But hey, the mods are free to do whatever they wish.

I wasn't trying to divert the topic onto VF5. I simply wanted to make that comment since I've been looking at both quite a bit recently.
