Of course if you want to talk Kant and Hegel, we can infinitely regress to Plato

Why stop at Plato? Let's go back to Xenophenes. But first, we'll have to get half-way to Xenophenes, and then we'll have to get half way further from there. Come to think of it, I guess we can't ever reach him.

But why Socrates? Marx is much more fun, and allows you to run around screaming "Forward the Glorious People's Revolution!" at the top of your lungs. Try topping that with Socrates.

Yes, the only thing Socrates shouted was "I DRANK WHAT???"

"I am not a Marxist." Ha. My favorite quote from good ol' Karl. Plato's "Republic" was far from being a republic. It was in fact an early commie regime. However, sadly I must admit that communism only works if you're the dictator. For everyone else, it's off to the rice paddy field!

Haha. Good one on Socrates, Rabid Duckie.

For Plato, the republic didn't equal a form of government, it just meant "public things." He actually referred to his government as a kallipolis.

Don't feel bad, I couldn't see it, as I was blinded by the radiance coming from Our Great Republic's Belevolent Temulin-sama.

Two of my great grandparents came from what is now the former USSR. I think they left before that country became part of the USSR. Extra points if you can guess the country within 5 tries. Welcome though, comrade.

Same region. Not that place. (I'm not hi-jacking USSR's thread, am I? That would be sad.)

Glad there is someone else interested in Russia here.

USSR, how did you come to have an interest in communist stuff? What first made you think, hey, that's interesting?

Actually...my fascination in communism started when I was a little girl. I've always had a passion for world domination. FF7 got me interested in dictators. Later I read Animal Farm (GREAT BOOK!!), Harrison Bergeron (short but good), and That Hideous Strength (AWESOMEST BOOK EVERRRR!!). However, by this time I was long gone and destined to be a future world conqueror. Besides...communists just have more fun!

Well, I *will* say they wear a lot of red.

You'd probably dig the Chairman Mao outfit Ranma sometimes wears in Ranma 1/2. I'll have to find a screengrab somewhere. Actually, you might like the Ju-sen-kyoo guide even better -- he *is* a Commie!
