Prayer for some guy

Postby Slater » Fri Jan 27, 2006 8:45 pm

"My name is *censored*, and it is my understanding that someone from here was nice enough to take custody of my son's bicycle on Thursday morning when he was picked up for his drunkeness."

That's the start of a letter we got today. See, her son was placed under arrest for being too drunk in public. It was my dad who called 911 when he witnessed the man (about 26 years old) fall off his bike and seriously injure his hand. According to my dad, besides being drunk, the man looked very depressed (even before falling off his bike) and sad.

Maybe that's just a sideaffect of being so drunk, but it's still bothersome. I think he needs prayer...

It could go either way. Often, this degree of drunkeness is a side effect of the depression. Many people seek alcohol for the same reason others seek drugs - it offers temporary relief from whatever is causing them physical or mental pain in their life.

I'll certainly keep the man in mind. No one should be in that state of drunkeness and misery.

I'll pray for him, Slater. I hope your family will be able to influence his in some positive way!
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

I will be praying. I'm glad your dad could intervene in time.
