I guess that's why I found this game for $5 at Lillian Vernon... I never knew it didn't sell.

Why wouldn't a game like this sell, though? O_o

gotta admit, it coulda used an online play option though. :D

Blastcorps for N64 is my pick, though Oni was an awsome game.

The Thief games by Looking Glass Studios. They are awesome and very intelligent, great story, gameplay, characters, level design etc.

I think the main reason why they didn't go mainstream or aren't that well known is because you have to think a lot in it, it's quite challenging, there is a lot of lore, it is pretty much pure stealth (fighting is discouraged) and the graphics aren't very good (even when they came out). But it has everything else going for it. It's more an artform, than a game - it's not a commerical game in the least really.
Thief 2: The Metal Age is my absolute favourite.

Anyone heard of/played the games?

Word.

Gonna also throw in a vote for the Arc the Lad Collection for PS1. Arc the Lad II is one of the greatest and longest RPGs ever made, and it really is unfortunate that so few people know about it.

Rhapsody... Not only was it not popular, it got panned by all the game reviewers... Weird-o-phobes bug me... I mean, I expect it in my parents to some degree, but no one my age or younger (or even a bit older) should have a problem with "weird"... Seriously, the MTV generation and the Generation after that has no room to complain about "weird"

Did robotrek sell badly? I liked that game...

Another game that was just weird, but rather fun was "Big Sky Trooper" I don't think that was a popular game... Best thing was, as weird as it was, it wasn't Japanese... It was made by Lucasarts!!! Hahaha...

It's a tactical style RPG (in the vein of Ogre Battle, Vandal Hearts, Final Fantasy Tactics, etc.). The plot in the first one starts out rather weak, to be honest. A girl named Kukuru who is trying to avoid her destiny puts out a 1,000 year old flame and inadvertently causes an ancient evil to be resurrected. A boy named Arc goes to relight the flame, but is killed, only to be brought back to life by the Guardians of the world and given special powers. He then travels through the land trying to find magic stones to stop the evil that has risen.

There's SO much I'm leaving out (Andel kidnapping Arc's mother, Arc being framed for killing the king and becoming a wanted criminal), but the first one is okay at best...however, you really do need to play through Arc I the whole way through so you can use the Save File Transfer option and unlock all the bonus stuff in Arc II, where the storyline gets crazy good.

1: Radiata Stories. I am not sure about the sale of this thing, but very few people seem to talk about playing it. It was a great break from the dark plotlines of most video games, and had a scenery that made you feel as if you stepped into a story book.

2: Tales of Symphonia. I only played this at my friends house, but if it ever came out for ps2 I would grab it in a second. I think the reason it sales were low is because gamecube isn't as big as PS2 and Xbox. Genis rocks! I am also counting the days until Tales of Legendia is released, it's from the same series as TOS, but it's for the PS2.
