Best RPG for GBA

Which RPG, in your opinion, is the best overall RPG for GBA? Mine would have to be the Golden Sun series. In terms of battle graphics and animation, it definately takes the cake. The summons are amazing. Especially the new summons you get in the Lost Age.

I just bought that game and so far, I have to say that I'm impressed. The gameplay is somewhat different than what I'm used to but it's a very fun game. I still have to say that Golden Sun is better though. Especially since it came out all the way back in 2001. Mario and Luigi supersaga was also pretty good.

Well there are some differences between the GBA version and the SNES version. (Bear in mind that this is an SNES game)

I never played the GBA one, just the SNES one

Golden Sun: The Lost Age was the best IMO. I really loved the fact that you could transfer your party from the original to TLA, and I also really liked the hard mode feature. It's a shame that the third one never made it to America (although I'm not sure if they ever made a 3rd one to begin with).

Wow. It'd be cool if there was a third one. I felt a little annoyed at how the Golden Sun series ended cause I thought that it'd be a trilogy. What does IMO stand for?

Also, I'd say FF4 and Fire Emblem run a close tie, but FF4 has my vote for sheer nostalgia.

I would've said Fire Emblem if the replayability wasn't so low. Well, not low, but maybe bad? Err... read on and I'll explain... Given, GS doesn't have much replay value either, GS is more enjoyable to play all around. I didn't necessarily dislike FE, it's just that to get 100% of the game completed, you have to complete the game too many times. I beat the game all the way through around 30 times and still didn't have half of everything unlocked, and getting everything in a game is very important to me. That fact alone is the reason why FE falls a few places on my list.

The first FE's playability is higher because of the support convo's. I'm not sure if Sacred Stones records them. I'm 67% done in the first one. I've played it so many times... so many times...

Well, since we're counting tactical games as RPGs, I'd say Advance Wars 2 hands down. And with the War Room, it's got great replayability.

I'm also a VERY big fan of Sigma Star Saga

Exactly my point. When I first started playing FE, I loved it. But as I went on and started going for completion (I had only beaten the game 5 or 6 times by then), the game started to get really tedious. I didn't get much farther than you did on Support Conversation completion, and I just quit eventually. The only saving grace left for the game IMO is the battle arena (I *rocked* the battle arena. UNDEFEATED!!!)

My Review on Golden Sun:

Plot: 4/10
Character Developement: 6/10
Gameplay: 9/10
Music: 7/10

That`s in general.
As fun of a game as it is, the plot is extremely dull and the characters have no depth at all.
The gameplay, however, was top notch which is mainly what GBA games are about since they share SNES standards.

FF4 takes the cake for me because it is actually better than the SNES version and has the strongest plot of any GBA RPG I`ve seen.

However, FF6 (the best oldschool FF ever) is coming soon for the GBA.

In terms of sheer gameplay, "Mario and Luigi: Superstars Saga" takes the cake.
The timed attacks made it truly fun to be in battles, instead of troublesome, as I tend to experience in many an RPG (namely, the FFs...).

Still, I found "Souls of Rebirth" to be great as well (though I spent most of my time on it listening to the music...).

Then there's also KH:CoM. Fun (and pretty

), though it could get a bit redundant after awhile...

I see. Looks like a lot of people like FF4 and FB. I'd have to say that FB is pretty fun too but it's more of a strategic game than Golden Sun. I haven't played all the way through FF4 so I can't say too much about that yet.

I'd say Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones is easily my favorite. It contained just this deep, satisfying blend of strategy and role-playing. Not to mention, it had a dynamic cast of characters in an epic story. I just couldn't get enough of it.

Close seconds are Final Fantasy 4 (finally, a better translation with no crappy PS loading time) and Mario and Luigi (Mustard of doom!).

You aparently completly misunderstood me.

He said one of the reasons he liked Golden Sun is because it came out "way back". I have no idea why age would make a difference. What I thought he was implying was: Golden Sun is older than FF4.

That's not what I meant but I'm just saying that compared to other GBA games that came out in that time weren't very good in terms of graphics compared to Golden Sun. That's all.

Sacred Stones is FE8. The first FE game we got was FE7, which came here as just plain ol' Fire Emblem. *everdred12a also misses Nino and almost wants to go buy a used copy of FE7*

my favorite is Fire Emblem (but i had to ban myself from the arena to keep from blowing an entire day of level uping with one death...)
