PSP RPG's

Postby everdred12a » Mon Jan 16, 2006 11:21 am

I know for a fact that I'm not the only person here with a PSP, so I know that there will be some people that can help me out.

Anyway, I finished Legend of Heroes yesterday (which was a great game) and I want to pick up another PSP RPG. The only one I saw on Gamefaqs that actually looked like it was out in America was Kingdom of Paradise, which had some mixed opinons about it. Some people said it was good, others said it was complete crap, so question one is this - is this game worth getting? I don't want to blow upwards of $50 bucks on a game that's no good.

The other question I have is, are there any other domestic RPG's on PSP? If so, are they worth playing?

Popoloicros is an rpg but its graphics remind me to much of windwaker but that may not faze you. And so far I have heard good things of kingdom of paradise but if I were you I would go to blockbuster and rent it first (yes blockbuster carries psp games) Also Y's ark of naphitism or something or rather is coming out sometime soon.

Not a bad idea, renting first. I didn't know that they rented PSP.

I rented Kingdom of Paradise a few days ago. It's pretty fun, but nothing I'd shell out forty bucks for. I just can’t really get into to it, like other RPGs. Nevertheless, KoP is a solid RPG and probably is worth your time.

Personally, I'm waiting for Suikoden I + II, Tales of Eternia, and maybe Breath of Fire III (loved the first two on the SNES).

Good luck.

Konami doesn't appear to be interested in localizing Suikoden I + II.

ToE and BoF III, you will probably have to import from Europe.

Now that is harsh! For shame Konami, Namco, and Capcom! :shake:

Well, I guess it's good that the PSP is import friendly and at least I'll have my Metal Gear Acid 2 in March....

*an arrow strikes 'dred in the heart*

NO SUIKODEN!? Man, stupid Konami.... I can live with importing from Europe as long as the games are still in English. But I don't know if I'd bother importing Suikoden since it's in Japanese.

Yeah importing a game like Katamari is one thing but an RPG with hundreds of lines of text is another.

Final Fantasy: Crisis Core is an RPG that's not mentioned very much. Probably because we know next to nothing about it.:P But it was announced in 04 and is supposed to come out this year but I wouldn't hold my breath with the way Squeenix has been releasing games lately.

Yeah Y's Ark of Naphitism is coming out soon like desperado said. And Legend of Heroes and Kingdom of Paradise are out... But it's a shame really there should be alot more RPG's in the works for the PSP.

I know. I was impressed by the amount of time I had to put into LoH to finish it. It was a whole lot more than GTA. That's why I wanted to get another RPG as my next game (actually, I really wanted to try Darkstalkers, but I can't find a copy for the life of me).

Darkstalkers is decent but thats about it, just decent, doesnt have much replay at all for a fighting game and it just doesnt feel as polished as a mvc2 or street fighter type game.

Yeah, Darkstalkers isn't worth it on the PSP (those loads times got to me). -Well, unless you have a couple of friends to play it with, it could be a great time to be had.

Since none of my friends have a PSP, it quickly become the first game I traded in a long long time.

Hmm... then maybe it's a good thing that I haven't found a copy. I don't know anyone else that has a PSP, so I guess it wouldn't do me any good.

:)

Suikoden II not be on PSP.....

:wow!:
:( :shake: :thumbsdow

That is not fair! Now, I will never gain a copy. Well, that is probably because I and II sold like crap when they released on PS1. I have an idea!
Let`s go back in time and everyone purchase the 2nd for PS1!

Back on topic, I would only recommend FF7: CC if you have been following the FF7 saga unless it is a remake which is a rumor.

I think we should wait for it to come out before talking about recommendations. It's not a remake and it was announced from the get go that it would be another spin off of the FFVII story in the vain of Dirge of Cerberus and Advent Children. It will be an Action RPG with Zack as the main character and that's about all I know.

It's not that Suikoden 2 didn't sell well, it's that KCEA *anticipated* that it wouldn't sell well and severely underproduced it. That's why Suikoden 2 is so rare and expensive. It's still pricey, but every once in awhile you might find a used copy at Gamestop. They run appx. $50.

But yeah, it's a real let down that Suikoden probably won't come to America. It would have been really cool. But I'm kind of anticipating Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth now that I've heard about it. I never got to play it on PSX, so maybe it'll turn out to be decent.

There is a Valkyrie Profile remake, entitled Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, being made for PSP.

There is also a prequal , entitled Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria, being made for PS2.

Both have a good chance of coming to North America as Square-Enix, unlike Namco and Capcom, localizes most of their games.

Yeah I heard so many good things about Valkyrie Profile for the PS1. Unfortunately it's out of print and super hard to find a copy.

That's the reason why I'm glad that they're porting it to PSP. I never got to play it on PSX (I really didn't even hear about it until I played SO3), so I'm really looking forward to it.

Hey, is anyone else going to pick up the new Nippon Ichi game? It's called Generation of Chaos, and if you preorder it, you get the soundtrack as well.

Nippon Ichi, eh? I enjoyed Phantom Brave and Disgaea when I rented them on the PS2, so a portable tactics-like RPG from that team sounds great to me. If it gets a good review, I think I'll pick this one up alongside Metal Gear Acid 2 in March.

I believe Generation of Chaos is coming out on Feb 28, correct?

Umm... *checks*... Yeah. I haven't had the chance to go preorder it yet, but Gamefaqs says 2/28, so that's what I'll go with. I've also been meaning to go pick up MGA, and I'll have to get MGA 2 as well, but money's been a little tight for me recently...
