My best guess is that at the time you ran hijackthis you were running a P2P program, likely WinMX or Limewire.

i agree. also, roxio is a pain in the rear to uninstall, and can sometimes cause problems with other software. also, i would suggeest switching to gaim (gaim.sourceforge.net) instead of the other im clients, but that's just what i like to use.

1. Roxio is good to me

2. I wasn't running any P2P progs

3. I'm stepping out on a limb here, but now that my Norton's expired and I don't want to pay for another year... freeware open source sounds like pwn!

Hijackthis logs don't lie, so if you weren't running any p2p programs the fact that you had 100+ open connections on your computer at that time, and all of them connected to a winmx server (or user) is something I would be VERY concerned about. I'd do a full system scan (don't use norton, use this: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/) to make sure you don't have a trojan that norton wouldn't pick up (of which there are MANY).

And really, for Heaven's sake lose Norton. If you don't want to pay for anything, use AVG but PC-Cillin is a good commercial app. Every year I renew my license for only $20 and get a free upgrade to the newest version. You can get a free trial year of it by finding a friend that recently bought a new motherboard, it probably has it on the mainboard apps disc.

It looks your browser was hijacked by Home Search Assistant.. (HSA) What does your homepage look like?

I have an HSA removal guide that might help you out.
