Nintendo systems...

Just browsing through all them "new" Nintendo systems. Most recent system I have is a PS2 and Nintendo-wise, a Game Boy Colour :/ And I was just browsing through some of the "newer" things with a couple questions...

First off, might be a dumb q, but does a DS play Advance games as well? Never could figure it out. And well, why get an "outdated" product when you get get a better one that play both?
Then I was looking at Game Cubes (both Cube and Advance cause they're nice and cheap now^^) and saw that they not only play Cube games, but the site said also that you can get access to download old 64, SNES, and NES games too! Now THAT sounds exciting! Cracking open the ol' Nintendo vault (even if my NES is still working semi-decently ^^ ...lousy Duck Hunt gun's been long dead though).

Sooo... any advice for a person like me? Interested in getting into some of them Sonic and FF games that Nintendo has to offer (plus various others, of course).

...and Xboxes don't excite me in the least bit so please no suggesting that instead^^

Well, the DS indeed CAN play Gameboy advance games!

And the gamecube does not play old 64 games (and prior to that). You are mistaking that for the Nintendo Revolution, which is Nintendo's next console to be released sometime in the future.

Well, a couple of reasons:

1) The DS won't play some of the older Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. The GBA does, though. So if you have a copy of Tetris for Game Boy, your DS won't do a bit of good.

2) Price. You can get a GBA SP for about 80 bucks, I think. The DS is still over a hundred bucks, even used.

Typo! Meant that Revoltuion can play older games. I'm guessing it can be hooked up to comps, cause how else can you enter a download database for old stuff? Sounds good though!

But alright, DS can play Advance too, huh? One more question concerning that (doubting the answer will be a "no" though) but it also has one of those built-in lights right? Because WOW after playing both my friend's orginal Advance and SP, it sure made a difference!

Well, I'm not totally sure, but it sounds like it'll have some sort of drive system, then you just plud it into a phone line (like online play) and just download it directly.

If you have a Wi-Fi network in your house, you don't even need to plug it in.

I suppose it's possible they'll sell download discs with games on them.

I got mine for $35, excellent condition used

but yes, normally they are over 100, but worth it.

also, the DS does not do multiplayer GBA games. you need a GBA or SP to play those games multiplayer.
