There was a 6.5 earthquake 110 miles to the north of Los Angeles. :wow!:

I have often been curious and thankful I supose when it comes to Earthquakes...I was born in maryland, moved to Maine. So they have never been a real issue. I think Maine has had like 2 in State history...tiny baby ones too.

Yah, have you guys heard them talk about Cambria on the news? That's the town I live in. It's pretty crazy around here right now, but I think most everyone's alright. I heard a couple people died in Paso Robles...I'll get back to you all with more in a bit, keep us in your prayers.

We had an earthquake about a week ago in Virginia. I felt it in my dorm room. Earthquakes are pretty rare here, and this was probably the first one in my lifetime.

I remember that! We felt it all the way down here in NC. It was strange.
"So David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the LORD. And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor."

2 Samuel 6: 21&22

I've never been in an earthquake. Scary! The closest thing I've ever felt to an earthquake was... a gasline exploding several miles away during a heavy rainy season with flooding of the rivers back in... 1991. Rattled the windows, thought it as an earthquake at first - but, no, just a big BOOM.

We felt it over in San Bernardino, though not as strongly, obviously. Actually, I'm glad Rashiir reported in, since he was the one I was concerned about.

I've been through a lot of earthquakes while living in California. Fortunately, everyone I know still out there barely felt it. I'll keep you guys in my prayers.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Glad everyone's alright.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

I felt the one Earthquake in VA. I thought it was kinda cool, actually, but yeah, I understand how bad it can be in some places. Still, if people thought that was bad, just wait til the two in Revelation... :wow!:

OldPhil's grandma (who is with us now) is from the area where the earthquake hit. I'm glad she wasn't there when it happened.... She called her friends, and they're all okay.

Rashiir, I *love* Cambria. It's such a beautiful town. We vacationed there a few weeks ago.

Earthquakes can be terrible... but honestly, I'd rather live in Earthquake Country than Tornado Country... :wow!:

I think I'd have to agree with you there. I've been in a small tremor that moved my bed to the middle of the room, but nothing close to a real earthquake. However, the thought of tornadoes ... I would just rather deal with an earthquake I think. But thankfully, I don't have to deal with either at my current position. Just ice storms and blizzards.

I was driving when it happened, so I thought I blew a tire or something because my car started going crazy. Everyone around me slowed down and pulled over, but I just kept going. They all gave me looks like "What is he thinking!?!" and "What an idiot" as I sped by them. I didn't realize it had been an earthquake until the people I was picking up told me...

I wish I could be through an earthquake (and live). I'd like to know what it feels like...I live in GA, and I doubt we'll ever have a big one here. I don't know of any that's happened during my lifetime, but a while back I heard about one here. As for tornados, I've been through a few, none that actually did damage I don't think, but still....I HATE TORNADOES! Man...those things scare me.

No, Volt, "they," to whomever you may be referring, cannot "fix the fault line." It is impossible. . .and your post just makes me realize that we do need to be more concerned as to the poor state of science education. :)
