I just got a BarlowGirl CD and I am quite impressed. All the songs sounded kind of the same, but I really like it, so it was all good.

Yes, Barlow Girl pwns you and everyone here, though they may not realize it yet.

The best part is, they actually talk to all their fans... yes, they acknowledge the existence of The Duck, therefore they rock harder. I'll say this though, if you ever meet Lauren (the drummer) and you call her WOL (or whacked-out-Lauren) she'll know you've been talking to me :p

But anyway, I have both of their CDs, and I'm a huge fan. ^_^

My brother has their first one and I got their second one. I like both cds. I appreciate their messages in their lyrics very much.
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone
And so hold on when there is nothing left in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!' ...you'll be a Man, my son!

They definately are one of the better girl rock bands out there. The first album was overplayed (I had a friend who listened to it all the time) but after I didn't hear it twice a day I actually liked it.

Superchick wrote a really popular song about them so I'm guessing that they are.

They have some good songs and good messages about life and self-worth through their songs but they aren't earth-shattering. Though they are above average for a girl rock band (and they actually can play and sing, they don't fake it).

Man, I had a dream last night that I stayed at a cabin with Josh Barlow (their brother, and a good friend of mine as well), and we told jokes about his sisters. Later in the same dream I also got invited to play golf by Pres. Bush.

I think I need to eat more of what I ate last night before going to bed...

Anyway, I completely forgot that the Rebecca St James/BarlowGirl tour is passing through my hometown in March, and you'd better believe I'm getting tickets. I've known the girls for two years now, but this would be my first time actually meeting them. Excited? You betcha...

Well, I'm an old man, so I guess I can't counter that. But whatever, I know what I like and it includes stranger tastes than BarlowGirl.

I also received their second CD for Christmas from my sis. (3 cheers for sweet sisters!) I'm really enjoying it! Their lyrics are straightforward and while they aren't mind-blowing per say, they speak of the Christian life as opposed to only living right, being your own person, standing up for yourself, etc.

The music end is nice too - heavy enough for my tastes but with some smoother songs (I like Porcelain Heart too). I'd say my favourite songs from "Another Journal Entry" are Psalm 73 and Let Go.
