Actually, I do know you as a writer, and I've skimmed some of your work (Saiyuki, I believe - it has been a long time). I didn't make the connection earlier because I so rarely visit Media Miner and because your account is fairly sparse with the X stories removed, as they are for non-members. It took you mentioning it for me to remember that you're one of the head moderators at the site.
EDIT: In retrospect, that comment seems really wierd on its own. I trust it isn't somehow taken in a negative manner?
Not at all.
And yes, my account
is very sparse with the non-adult material hidden; that's why I tend to offer up links via PM, so that I can send a more detailed synopsis of the adult ones if someone's interested. Some of my adult content is fine with people and some of it they would rather not see.
One of my fellow moderators prefers not to read any of my work if they can avoid it.
It's all personal preference.
It's actually been a rather long time since I've been anywhere but MediaMiner. I first started posting to the Web at large in 1997, and I joined MediaMiner when they first opened in October of 2001. I also have my work archived on other sites, but those are all behind "18+" warnings and at least one of them is a password-protected archive to keep under 18s out.
And, since most of my stuff was bannable at FanFiction.net after their NC-17 ban, I chose to simply follow their rules and removed my account. I don't believe in having empty, unused accounts anywhere, and their definition of adult content has proven different than MediaMiner's, so I simply pulled all of it to be safe.
I am officially retiring from fan fiction writing (not original fiction, just fan fiction) on January 1, so only my completed fics are available on my website. For the sake of people who still like my WIPs, I left them up on MediaMiner along with the completed works. That's why I tend to offer up links to MediaMiner, even though it's not as popular of an archive as others - it's the one place where people can find a comprehensive listing of things that I've written that are still decent enough to be posted on the Web.
(I've written other stuff, it's just all been pulled because it's garbage.
