Anyone besides me psyched out about this game. It looks to be truly amazing, with beatiful graphics and good gameplay.

Besides it by the makers of ICO and that was a huge underground hit. I mean for early ps2 those graphics were awesome and there wasn't ever a game like that before.

So anyone anyone else wanting to get this tuesday when it comes out?(I have to wait untill i get my razr v3 then im going to buy this game.)

I like the glow everything had in Ico, and I'm happy it's transferring to SOTC. And the fact that there's just these Collosi just running around and no other enemies gives a interesting touch to gameplay.

I've been waiting for this game for over a year since it was called Wanda and the Giant. I played the death out of the demo in late August. And I'm heading over to EB as soon as I get off work. I'm so psyched about this game... It just felt so fresh just like Ico did, nothing like it. The camera and the motion blur is awesome it makes the whole game feel like playing a cutscene. And the graphics are right up there with God of War, Socom III, and MGS3 as some of the best on PS2. The controls take a little getting used to but easy once ya get the hang of it. And the fights with the Colossus were just...wow gotta play it to believe it.

A friend of mine played the demo at his house...and we're BOTH psyched out about it. Even I, who does not have a PS2. The graphics are awesome, and the world is just freakin' HUGE.

I must say…. I'm impressed with what can be pulled off with the PS2. This is an amazing graphical leap ICO (just played it again this weekend). I'm really looking forward to playing more after that demo, but Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance also came out today. It's kinda' hard for me to pass up a Fire Emblem game, so maybe I'll pick SotC up later this week.

oooh yeah, I've been waiting ages for this game to arrive too. I'll be picking up my copy come saturday. Woohoo!

As for a genre... it kinda blows the genres... guess it would be classified as a third person adventure game. I dunno though. Anyone know what catagory it's offically considered?

There is one bad thing I read about this game that makes this a rent for me (unless it truly blows me away), and that is the game is supposedly only 10 to 12 hours long on the first playthrough.

Ah, this game looks awesome! I've been keeping an eye on it since I saw a blip about it on G4. The graphics are staggering, and the gameplay looks really fresh. Not what you'd expect in a game like this, whatever sort of game it really is. The whole collosuses idea is really really cool, with no other enemies, but maybe there's something more than just what it seems. I'll have to buy it and find out.

Would you rather they have expanded the attack system a little and added some mundane enemies to add 5-10 more hours on it? It would of cheapend the experience in the end this game is fine as it is. Play time is a menial thing for me. As long as a game is around 10 hours, which just about every retail game is at least that anyway, then I am fine with that. More hours of playtime does not equal more value it equals a cheap trick half the time. Almost every game in existence minus a few could of had some mundane parts cut to make the experience more cohesive, exciting, and in general better. Think back on the best games, I mean AAA ones. Most of them outside of the usual RPG list weren't 30 hour romp fests most everything fit in place, there wasn't much filler, it lead you right to the next thing, and it kept things fresh and exciting.

I would much rather have a memorable 10 hour experience playing a game than a boring, cliched, tired out game formula that runs for 30 hours just so people can say "lookzorz this game has value, it'll waste more of your time actually doing less!" You get more worth out of it in the end and you'll probably go back to play it again and again.

You could run straight through in that much time but that would be pointless. The world is absolutely huge and it demands to be explored. I mean you seriously can't resist it when you're going through a giant field with hawks following you, on your horse Agro thundering down the plains, the sounds of nature around ya, then you come upon a huge cliff overlooking a waterfall, and you HAVE to stop and watch it for a mintue or two. It's that powerful you just have to play it to believe it.

And don't even get me started on the Colossus's...if you all thought the Ogre battle in the demo was epic just wait till you get to the later ones. I just beat the 7th Colossus, an eel like beast, and that was one heck of a fight. But probably the eeriest fight for me so far was the crow...the 5th Colossus, you'll know when you get there what I'm talking about. This game is worth it if you buy one PS2 game for the rest of it's lifecycle make it this one. Even the most hard headed and jaded gamer can't deny this one a purchase and some serious playtime.

I have to say that this is the most beautiful game I've ever played. Just...astounding. Having the majority of the game be boss fights was pure genius. Every battle is epic and the final colossus is the biggest boss in the history of videogames.

The music is excellent. And the fact that it's situational increases the enjoyment of fighting the massive collossi.

As for the time it takes to beat it...slightly less that 10 hours. But after you beat the game, there are a ton of things to do. Fight colossi in time attack mode to unlock nifty items like an invisibility cloak and exploding arrows, play through on hard mode, play time attack again in hard mode to unlock even cooler items, and fight the 17th colossus. All this greatly adds to play time.

A truly amazing game.

Alas, I haven't had the chance to personally play this game, but my brother rented it this weekend and I've been bugging him alot while he's been playing through. The graphics are so beautiful, it really does look like a storybook come to life and we were both stunned by the size of the first Collosi (eh...I guess the whole 'collosal' thing shoulda been a tip-off).

The best part was definitely when he was fighting the fourth (?) flying nazgul-ish boss. It had just taken to the air and we'd totally lost sight of it, so we were both sitting looking stumped and wondering where it had gone. And then my bro finally turned around and this massive shadow was sweeping in point blank at him, at which point I started flailing, we both started yelling and he was frantically trying to dodge. I love all the frantic panicking moments that this game has, whenever you realize that you've just ticked off a creature the size of a small skyscraper and it's charging straight atcha

I will so be playing through this game once my school workload lightens up.

Oh, I can definitely picture that happening. That happened to me once, except it was with the one that was smaller and was in the shape of a regular bird. Scared the pants off of me too. That game actually gives me the creeps, because of the fact that the game does the size thing so well. I mean, just starring up at these things is enough to make you mess your pants.

Yeah like I said just seeing the bird colossus perched up there on that pillar, halfway across that lake, with the mist going, and the music playing, and him just sitting there watching me it really put a tingle down my spine... :brow: I was just waiting for him to do something but I had to make the first move of course which I hated doing in this game.

But wow the moral ambiguity in this game is great. Granted I still have a few colossus to go but I can already tell its gonna be a sad deal at the end. Some Colossus don't even go after you like the bird or the eel unless you provoke them. I've felt bad for just about every colossus I killed except the really nasty ones. The Colossi didn't do anything to deserve destruction and the Wanderer and is only doing really it for his own selfish desires. Well gotta finish the game so I can rest easy...

Just picked up this game yesterday, already in my top 25 best games ever. GORGEOUS graphics, very solid gameplay (Which is rare these days XD ), and a brooding storyline.

I agree with Yojimbo, I feel bad every time I have to kill a Colossus, but you know you must if you plan on bringing the Maiden back. This game is great not only because of the battles, but because it keeps you guessing. Who is the Maiden? Why is she so important to the Wanderer? What exactly are those black tentacles that dive into you after every Colossus?

If you haven't gotten this game, run out and buy it. For $40 it's well worth it, I know I'll be going back and playing this one more than once.

I bought this game over the weekend and I love it so far. It has some of the most beautiful graphics I've seen on the PS2! I had a bit of difficulty figuring out how to control the horse at first though. ^^;

I wanna get this game, but I just got a new one and i already made a game christmas list for my parents:

Kingdom Hearts II
Romancing SaGa
Dragon Warrior VIII

If Kingdom hearts 2 isn`t out my christmas then i stumped between this or Full Metal Alchemist... gee, I wonder what you guys are gonna recommend? -sarcastic-

After seeing the graphics, the ingame for the main haracter is ok at best but those Collossus things and all the enimies.....wow...that beats Halo, very well done.

So do you ever get to ride a collosus or are they all evil and you`re just a teeny man with a horse?

Hoe can a bow and arrow hurt that thing?! -thing meaning giant stone collosus on cover-

You ride around on the majority of the colossi because that's the only way to get in a position to kill them.

The bow isn't used to kill them. Most of the time it's used to annoy a colossus or get its attention. You kill a colossus by climbing on it, finding its vital points and stabbing your magic sword into it.

I'm playing hard mode right now, and as good as normal mode is, hard mode is better. Some of the colossi have extra vital points and it takes more stabs to kill them. I dread the hard mode time attacks, though. At least you're supposed to get really cool items.

Oh, and guys, I gotta take back what I said about there being a 17th colossus. I had found two faqs that said it existed, but a day later they had removed all things having to do with it. It wasn't explained why. Ah well, there's still tons of stuff to do after you beat the game.

Yeah...I'd definitely reccomend this game. FMA is a great anime, but it's a pretty sucky game from what I hear.
