I think it's becoming more and more common and less and less WEIRD to meet a person online that you could wind up in a relationship with. In this day and age the computer is so integrated into our society that it's just becoming common. I don't know how well online relationships always work, because frankly sometimes people wind up different in person and you don't like them so much, or they're just not what you imagined; however, I don't condemn them or think it's impossible for them to ever work out. It really just all depends on the circumstances, I think.
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

I have not met a special someone on here, but considering that my brother is in a relationship that started online, I won't rule out online dating as a possibility. With him, he met a girl online, but they didn't actually start dating until they had met in person a few times.

For all of you who have CAA girlfriends/boyfriends, I have a warning. Earlier in my history here, I did have a doomed romance with a girl who hasn't come on here in... phew... a year. It was exhilerating, but the pain of not hearing from her was great. Finally, I just accepted that she wasn't coming on again.

Be careful, and treat each other with kindness and consideration with each message.

A bit worrying...? That's practically putting up a neon sign that the marriage is going to crash and burn. I doubt I'd give a female I'd known for two weeks in person more than a hug...

Forget the grammaring....

Yeah, I've wondered about it, but it's been about a year now and it still seems to be going. If he'd just get back from the Middle East, we could be seeing a few more second cousins around here. :P

Oh, and his wife fits perfectly into the craziness of our family. We tried to make a video at our cousin's house about a bunch of incompetent pirates (who ALL had at least one eyepatch; one had two patches and two hooks, and the captain was a little girl voiced by our 20-something cousin Matt) who kidnapped a rather "fruity" wizard, and she was the ninja (wore her husband's outfit, but kept her ears out the sides XP ) who had to "sneak" onboard to save the wizard (who had just managed to find a computer on the ship to contact "Mercernaries.com").

So yeah, I don't worry that much. :)

The girl my brother met is only two hours away, so they don't really have to worry too much about the long distance bit. Also, they are both in their twenties, so the parents aren't involved in transportation.

Thank you. Also-am I the only one that caught that, or just the only one to comment on it?

When you're younger, yes, it would be a bit more difficult to sustain an internet/long distance relationship. When you get older, one or the other of the couple has the option to either drive to meet up or one can move if given the opportunity.

I personally question whether relationships can JUST be online always and forever. I think some kind of interaction would have to occur at some point, and both parties need to question whether they'd be willing to move at some point for the other party.

I'm personally happy to see it's becoming a bit more "accepted" to meet people online. I think God can use the internet to bring people together, since He's not limited ever in any way. It just requires a LOT of work and committment, and I'm almost inclined to think it takes more work, takes more faith and involves more trust.

Anyway, to answer the original question- yes. I have met that "special someone" on CAA before.

yeah, i agree. i believe you have to meet the person one time or another. if you dont... i believe it could just fade. so you would need to at least visit now and then. :p

yeah, im still slightly nervous about meeting anyone from the internet..just cause its still like.. i dunno. but i still think it would be reallly cool to meet someone special.
i believe people are much more confident online than in real life, cause you dont see them face to face. and this way you can say things that you wouldnt NORMALLY say to them. for example... i would have such a hard time telling someone they are really cute to their face..but online, i have no problem.
XD

so i think it would be cool to meet someone from the internet, cause youve talked to them, and know their personality- so then you can like.. connect it to the person- so its like a surprise.

did i make ANY sense right there?

i am so out of it today. O.o

You made sense Chibi.:)

I agree with alot of points here. I believe relationships like that can start online, I've seen it and it's always a possibility more and more now a days. Who's to say God couldn't have two people find eachother through any means even the internet? They of course would have to meet eachother at some time and go from there. That should be a given or they might as well not go that far.:P

There are some advantages to it such as already knowing a person fairly well before actually seeing them face to face. It helps put the initial feelings of physical attraction that can kind of complicate things and just getting to know the other person without distractions. Also on the other hand it's easy for all of us I'm sure to kind of hide those day to day annoyances and problems when we come online. So it doesn't quite give you the whole complete picture of someone on a "usual" day by day basis and the personality that goes along with it.

But I feel if it's taken slow, steady, and over a good period of time then you can avoid that last problem and not just seeing the happy side of the person and avoid getting carried away. Still though it takes knowing someone physically in person and interacting with them on a day by day basis. Where you can strengthen the relationship beyond just speaking to them, appreciating the good qualities of the other person even more, and learning to accept their faults as well to make the relationship work.

I will come out and say it. I have. I to tell the truth I have fallen deeply in love with her. it did not help that I talked to her for over 3 hours over the phone last night.

Hee. :D

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!
